Description

This role does not cover infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity or end-user support.

The focus is on business applications. You work with stakeholders in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, finance, HR, quality, engineering and other functions to turn their needs into IT initiatives that fit the company's global application direction.

You decide whether a need can be met by an existing global solution or needs a new IT project. Where needed, you run pre-project assessments, test feasibility, write business cases and coordinate delivery.

The company is a global supplier of equipment, systems, digital solutions and services for freight and transit rail. It has about 30,000 employees and more than 150 years of history, and the role covers a broad range of business and digital transformation work.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main IT contact for stakeholders across several functions.
  • Find the operational problems they face and where technology can add value.
  • Question and sharpen requests so that objectives and expected outcomes are clear.
  • Turn business requirements into structured IT initiatives.
  • Check new requests against existing global applications, platforms and ongoing programs.
  • Reuse existing solutions instead of building local developments.
  • Hand requests over to global IT teams when a suitable solution already exists.
  • Lead discovery workshops with stakeholders.
  • Carry out preliminary assessments.
  • Run projects according to the IT PMO structure and process.
  • Flag unresolved strategic issues that put projects on hold and call for action on them.

Requirements

  • Preferred: a degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: a minimum of 5-7 years in IT project management, business applications, business analysis or IT business relationship management.
  • Strongly preferred: experience in a manufacturing, industrial or operations-driven environment.
  • Preferred: proven experience turning business requirements into digital or software-based solutions.
  • Preferred: experience with ERP, MES, supply chain, HR, finance or other business applications.
  • Preferred: experience managing feasibility studies, business cases and application deployment projects.

Conditions

The company is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes candidates of all backgrounds and identities, including race, gender, age, disability and veteran status, and it will provide accommodation on request.
