Description

The team in Timisoara, Romania runs the data platform for a large industrial group that makes tires and industrial materials. The company has about 20,000 employees across more than 60 sites.

The platform runs on Azure and includes Databricks, CI/CD systems and Power BI, and it must be stable, scalable and secure.

The role focuses on automation and reliability, cutting down manual operations, and keeping data pipelines running reliably with monitoring and automatic recovery.

The role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Build and run Azure platform infrastructure with Terraform, and automate provisioning, configuration and scaling of AKS, Key Vault, Monitor and Storage.
• Manage Databricks workspace setup, access control and cluster policies, and set standards for cluster use, performance and cost.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for Scala data applications, automating build, packaging and deployment with SBT and GitHub Enterprise.
• Apply DevSecOps practices in pipeline design and infrastructure governance.
• Add logging, metrics and alerting to data pipelines and platform components using Grafana, and monitor Spark workloads.
• Investigate failures, run root cause analysis, and put lasting fixes in place after incidents.
• Define and apply SLIs and SLOs, incident response and automated recovery.
• Help engineers fix performance problems and deployment issues, and support environment changes and platform lifecycle work.
• Automate Power BI service setup, workspace management and monitoring, and run enterprise gateways for hybrid data integration.
• Improve refresh reliability for datasets and hybrid integration pipelines.
• Enforce governance standards for RBAC, tagging and audit logging, and manage secrets with Key Vault, managed identities and federated identity credentials.
• Automate compliance checks and support audits across Azure, Databricks and Power BI.
• Reduce resource waste and improve scalability and cost efficiency, and report on platform usage and cost drivers.

Requirements

• A degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field.
• At least 5 years in platform engineering, DevOps or SRE, with a clear focus on automation and infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, plus Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Bicep) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience running production data platforms and pipelines in Scala and Spark environments.
• A solid grasp of distributed systems, reliability engineering and observability.
• Experience operating Databricks and tuning Spark workloads.
• Experience connecting build and deployment pipelines, for example with SBT and GitHub Enterprise.
• A plus: experience administering Power BI service and enterprise gateway architectures.
• An automation-first mindset that keeps manual work to a minimum.
• Ability to work with global teams, including engineers, architects and business stakeholders.
• This role is not a fit if your background is mainly manual system or platform administration without automation or Infrastructure-as-Code, ticket-based operations or L2/L3 support, or BI and reporting work or Power BI-only administration.
