The Opportunity

Join a team responsible for designing and delivering mission-critical systems that support national security objectives. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead complex engineering initiatives throughout the entire system lifecycle, from concept development and requirements definition through integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

In this highly visible technical leadership role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative, secure, and scalable solutions while ensuring alignment with customer needs, enterprise architecture standards, and rigorous engineering processes. This position offers the opportunity to influence system design, drive technical strategy, and solve complex challenges in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, verification, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Develop, manage, and trace system requirements to ensure alignment with operational needs and architectural frameworks, including DoDAF and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Create and maintain systems engineering documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs), Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs).
  • Design and evaluate system architectures, concepts, and technical solutions to meet performance, security, and mission requirements.
  • Allocate and validate system requirements across hardware, software, facilities, personnel, and operational processes.
  • Lead interface definition, system integration, and technical coordination activities across engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support and participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical reviews, Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and other engineering forums.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies, test plans, evaluation criteria, and acceptance methods to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, trade studies, and modeling activities to evaluate performance, cost, risk, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle impacts.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks using industry-standard risk management methodologies, including Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Apply cybersecurity, Information Assurance (IA), and DoD standards throughout system design and implementation.
  • Support configuration management activities and maintain technical baseline integrity.
  • Contribute to certification, accreditation, and JCIDS-related activities and documentation.
  • Utilize modeling, simulation, prototyping, and analytical techniques to reduce development risk and optimize system performance.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree.
  • 20+ years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs, projects, or contracts of similar scope, complexity, and mission impact.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, leading, and executing systems engineering efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience developing and managing system requirements, architectures, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience supporting DoD programs and applying DoD architectural, engineering, and security standards.
  • Desired:
  • Experience working with DoDAF, SOA, JCIDS, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
  • Experience leading large, complex system integration and modernization efforts.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, Information Assurance requirements, and DoD certification and accreditation processes.
  • Experience conducting trade studies, system performance analysis, reliability engineering, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with modeling, simulation, digital engineering, and prototyping techniques.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to translate operational requirements into innovative, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.
