Description

The company provides materials science and engineering equipment and services used to make nearly every new semiconductor chip and advanced display worldwide.

Its equipment and service work supports AI and helps bring next-generation chips to market.

This is a systems engineering role in the field, where you design, integrate and tune complex systems and write system specifications with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main Field Service Organization technical contact for high value problems, customer escalations and critical system recovery across the laser writer line and the Sigma Meltec line.
  • Lead root cause investigations into complex faults across optical, laser, electrical, mechanical, software, process and controls subsystems, and drive corrective actions through to field validation.
  • Work with Business Unit Engineering, Global Product Support, Technical Support Engineering, Quality and Reliability, Manufacturing and Service to fix field issues and improve performance.
  • Give hands-on support on site and remotely during escalations, installations, major upgrades, engineering evaluations and reliability projects.
  • Support system engineering work across electrical, mechanical, optics, laser, software, controls, process and physics, keeping the wider system in view.
  • Develop, assess and deploy fixes that raise reliability, maintainability, serviceability, availability and customer productivity.
  • Support Alpha and Beta site work, including installing, operating, calibrating, qualifying, testing and validating new hardware, software and process changes.
  • Run and coordinate tests of new designs, engineering changes and field improvements, and give engineering teams detailed feedback.
  • Work with Quality and Reliability on recurring field issues, join CAPA and FMECA activities, and lead or facilitate failure analysis when needed.
  • Write and maintain best known methods, troubleshooting guides, technical manuals, customer engineering notices, internal service bulletins and service procedures.
  • Gather and analyze performance, reliability and qualification data to spot trends and drive product and service improvements.
  • Lead cross-functional projects on engineering changes, fleet upgrades, new product introductions and customer-specific improvements.
  • Build training material and teach Customer Engineers, Process Support Engineers, Technical Product Support and field service staff.
  • Identify critical spare parts and work with Service Business Units and Supply Chain on stocking strategy.
  • Lead and mentor field personnel, and promote standard troubleshooting methods and best practice across the organization.
  • Start with about 75% of your time on laser writer support and 25% on Sigma Meltec support, with the split shifting as business needs change.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites, engineering, manufacturing and product development locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, applied sciences, electronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4-7 years supporting semiconductor capital equipment, photomask manufacturing tools, lithography, laser systems or similar advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical, optical, laser, software and process systems with customers.
  • A proven record leading technical escalations, cross-functional problem solving and recovery work where customers are at risk.
  • Solid grasp of root cause analysis, reliability improvement methods and engineering change management.
  • Clear communication, strong project leadership and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Preferred: direct experience with the laser writer systems.
  • Preferred: experience supporting cleaner, bake and developer systems.
  • Preferred: knowledge of laser optics, precision motion control, imaging, vacuum systems and semiconductor process equipment.
  • Preferred: experience with FMECA, CAPA, ECO implementation and new product introductions.
  • Preferred: prior work in customer engineering, global product support, technical support engineering, systems engineering or product engineering.
