Description

The company's data centers run products spanning high-performance computing and machine learning, including work for autonomous vehicles and healthcare. Its integrated system designs are built tightly around its GPU products.

The team is hiring a Global Connectivity Distinguished Engineer to speed up next-generation work.

In this role you will partner with industry players to shape how high-capacity long-haul terrestrial and subsea routes are designed, built and tuned to link AI Factories. You connect the physical fiber layer with AI deployments at global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Work with partners on varied long-haul terrestrial routes, keeping networks resilient and moving large volumes of data between regional AI hubs.
  • Take part in subsea and terrestrial consortiums to add capacity, improve efficiency and lower the cost per bit of transit.
  • Partner with government relations teams to shape market rules so that reliable, scalable fiber options become available for AI Factories.
  • Run market and connectivity-systems analysis, including economic modeling, risk assessment and portfolio valuation, to guide investment choices.
  • Push transport away from best-effort service toward ultra-reliable, low-latency communication (URLLC) protocols.
  • Work through complex international regulatory frameworks and ITU-T standards to find limits on cross-border data transfers.
  • Manage 3 to 5 year timelines for carrier-neutral interconnection alongside government stakeholders.
  • Align AI interconnection plans with national data residency laws and with security and encryption requirements.
  • Lead commercial, regulatory, engineering and analytical groups to carry out one coordinated global fiber strategy.

Requirements

  • 18+ years in a business leadership role at a hyperscale cloud provider or a Tier-1 global carrier.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven record leading large infrastructure projects, such as transoceanic subsea systems or national-scale terrestrial fiber builds.
  • Experience designing interconnects for dense GPU clusters, including the different backhaul needs of AI training and AI inference.
  • Solid grasp of Right-of-Way (ROW), subsea landing stations and power-to-fiber ratios.
  • Track record leading multidisciplinary teams and carrying out sophisticated commercial initiatives.
  • Proven engagement with utility commissions, federal regulators and grid operators.
  • Experience with both new and established global fiber ecosystems.
  • Skilled in financial modeling, contracts and risk evaluation for energy-related deals.
  • Stand out: deep expertise in fiber-system economics, utility ratemaking and energy markets.
  • Stand out: experience negotiating agreements, assessing shared right-of-way options and supporting large-scale infrastructure planning.
  • Stand out: comfort working where engineering, markets and policy meet.

Conditions

Base salary: 320,000 USD to 488,750 USD, set by location, experience and other objective job-related factors.

This is an existing vacancy, with applications accepted at least until November 3, 2026.
