Description

The Gametech Innovation team builds the tools and systems that the company's game teams use, covering AI in production pipelines and art pipeline optimisation across Unity and Unreal.

The team is growing its scope and needs a Tech Lead to take technical ownership of the work. You will shape the architecture, set quality standards, and work directly with the studios that use the team's solutions.

Early on, you will learn the codebases, meet the studios the team supports, and pick the most urgent areas to address. Within a few months, you will have set the architecture direction for the main projects and put a way to hold technical quality in place. Over time, success means studios use the tools daily and the developers around you make sound technical decisions with little guidance.

You will report to the Gametech Innovation Manager and work closely with Gametech Innovation developers based in several studios worldwide, including Paris, Montreal and Bucharest. Day to day, you will work with game programmers, technical artists and producers across the company's game teams internationally.

The hiring process has four steps: a recruitment interview about your background and questions on the role, an interview with a Hiring Manager about your experience and your view of game technology, a short case study, and a technical interview where you present the case study and explain your approach.

Responsibilities

  • Assess new engine features, technologies and AI capabilities, then choose the architecture and technologies the team will commit to across Unity and Unreal projects.
  • Build complex features and essential systems in C++ and C.
  • Own technical quality: coding standards, code reviews, build and release pipelines, and how AI fits into both the team's tools and its own development workflow.
  • Mentor developers on architecture, design and code quality through reviews, pairing and technical discussion.
  • Work with studios to find what slows them down, turn that into feasible technical scopes and estimates, and raise technical risks early enough to act on them.

Requirements

  • Advanced skill with Unreal Engine and/or Unity, including their editors and extensions, plus solid C++ and C.
  • Experience building and launching tools or systems that other teams depended on and kept using.
  • Advanced debugging, profiling and performance optimisation across complex systems, and the ability to write clean, maintainable, self-explanatory code.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD, build infrastructure and version control at scale.
  • Practical use of AI in real development work, both as a coding assistant in your own workflow and as services built into your tools.
  • Curious, with an appetite for unfamiliar problems and new engines, tools and approaches.
  • Solution-driven: you turn vague requests into workable technical paths and treat constraints as problems to solve.
  • A mentor who raises the technical level of others through code review, pairing and design discussion, and who explains reasoning clearly in English to technical and non-technical people.

Conditions

Remote work of up to 2 days per week, plus up to 1 month of full remote work from anywhere in France and up to 1 month abroad each year.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Access to Wellpass (formerly Gymlib).
  • Employee Savings Plan (PEG).
  • Meal vouchers, 50% reimbursement of public transport costs (Navigo pass), and health insurance.
  • Flexible working hours, unlimited coffee and tea, fresh fruit, and monthly breakfast gatherings.
  • Office spaces for video games and board games, foosball and ping-pong tables, weekly futsal sessions, and regular company events.
  • Training, mentorship and coaching programmes, plus Talent Move for internal moves to other roles at the company.
  • Growth paths towards people management or towards architecture and technical direction across projects and studios.
