Description

The company makes it easy to connect people and their devices securely, wherever they are. Hobbyists and large corporations alike use its software daily to protect networks and share access to internal tools.

Founded in 2019 and fully distributed, the company is backed by Accel, CRV, Insight, Heavybit and Uncork Capital.

The team is hiring a full-time frontend engineer to help build the next version of its web console.

The work sits between product and platform engineering, where user experience, browser security, developer tooling and internal platform design meet. Strategic thinking, sensible architecture calls and helping other teams build with confidence are central to the role.

Frequently cited statistics suggest people from historically marginalized groups apply only when they meet 100% of the qualifications. If this role appeals to you, apply even if you do not match every item.

Responsibilities

  • Set the frontend architecture for the next-generation console, covering app structure, routing, state boundaries, shared abstractions and long-term upkeep.
  • Build and maintain cross-origin auth and session infrastructure between the console and other services, including auth flows, CORS policies, CSRF defenses, cookie and session strategy, and support for several deployment environments.
  • Stand up and maintain the platform that serves the frontend for several products, all under one development workflow.
  • Create shared infrastructure, conventions and design patterns that bring separate product experiences into one cohesive console.
  • Build patterns, tooling and abstractions so engineers outside frontend can ship accessible, production-quality UI safely and quickly.
  • Work closely with Product Design to turn complex infrastructure and identity concepts into clear user experiences.
  • Collaborate with Growth, Design, Product and other engineering teams on experiments and iteration, including A/B tests, analytics and feature rollouts.
  • Define and improve the frontend testing strategy, covering integration, end-to-end tests, local developer experience, and abstractions that reduce testing effort for product teams.
  • Work with infrastructure and tooling teams on local development, build pipelines, preview deployments, release process and operational reliability.
  • Raise frontend quality across the company through technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring and clear platform guardrails.
  • Join the on-call rotation every x weeks to triage and mitigate incidents.

Requirements

  • Substantial hands-on work with large production React apps.
  • Solid grasp of web fundamentals: HTTP, browser security boundaries, authentication, cookies, storage, CORS and CSRF.
  • A track record creating internal platforms, frameworks or shared libraries that give other teams strong guardrails.
  • Experience bringing a unified console or platform vision to separate frontend codebases.
  • Good judgment on architecture: knowing when to standardize, when to abstract, and how to keep systems understandable as they grow.
  • Experience designing frontend testing that builds confidence while shielding product engineers from incidental complexity.
  • Comfort working across design, growth, infrastructure and developer tooling.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining tradeoffs and influencing direction across teams.
  • High ownership and autonomy: you spot important problems and push them through ambiguity.
  • Experience designing frontend code and tooling for AI-assisted development, with conventions that help LLM agents produce correct, consistent UI in fewer iterations.
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries, plus connecting design tools to production UI work.
  • Hands-on use of feature flags, analytics tooling, experimentation systems and progressive rollouts.
  • Experience with identity, admin, B2B SaaS or security-sensitive products.
