Description

The company is hiring a Senior UI Engineer to help make specialty medications easier for patients to access and more affordable.

The Product & Engineering team builds the pharmacy management system and a data insights platform. Internal staff such as pharmacists, care coordinators and clinical operations use them to streamline medication access, and external providers and clinics use them to improve patient care.

The engineering team has 10 or more engineers, from early career to staff and architect level. Product and design has 3 product managers and 1 designer. Infrastructure has 2 security engineers and 3 SREs. Quality and support has 3 QA engineers, 2 support engineers and 3 support specialists.

The company releases updates every day and is still growing its team.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical leader on the Product & Engineering team, building user interfaces that are accessible, fast and pleasant to use.
  • Shape the front-end architecture of the pharmacy management platform, working closely with product and design.
  • Set the bar for UI engineering across the team.
  • Build React applications, design-system components and complex clinical workflows, and own their performance, accessibility and responsive behaviour from start to finish.
  • Design scalable client-side architecture covering state management, routing, testing and CI/CD, and define API contracts with back-end engineers so both sides evolve together.
  • Lead code reviews and automated testing, and promote semantic HTML, ARIA, modern CSS and keyboard navigation.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, reviews and guidance on technical decisions.
  • Help set practices for AI-assisted development, including what to delegate, how to review generated code and how to keep quality high at a fast release pace, and help the wider team use these tools well.
  • The stack is React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Node.js/Express, Postgres and AWS, with an in-house Storybook design system and TanStack Query and Zustand on the client.
  • You work across the stack regularly, not just on the UI.
  • Expected progress: ship code to production on day 1. Own your first project from scoping to delivery within 30 days. Within 60 days, have led a project end to end and be driving code reviews and raising the bar on accessibility, testing or performance. Within 90 days, have proposed and started a plan for the design system, state management or test coverage.
  • The team uses AI coding tools every day, including Claude Code, MCP integrations with internal systems such as Linear, Slack, Figma and the data warehouse, and agentic workflows for code review and research.
  • Use AI development tools efficiently, proficiently and responsibly in your daily work.

Requirements

  • Required: 5+ years building production web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Required: experience building or contributing to production component libraries or design systems.
  • Required: strong responsive CSS and accessibility skills, including WCAG 2.2.
  • Required: experience with front-end performance tools such as Lighthouse and Web Vitals.
  • Required: experience designing RESTful API interfaces and integrating them cleanly in the UI.
  • Required: comfort working across Node.js and Postgres as a regular part of the job.
  • Required: experience using AI development tools in real work, with a clear view of their strengths and limits.
  • Required: comfort working remotely in a fast-moving environment with daily releases.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: owning a system or project from scoping through long-term evolution, not just a single release.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: leading or strongly influencing cross-functional work with product and design, including managing trade-offs between them.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: explaining technical decisions and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: building UIs that handle sensitive data, such as HIPAA/PHI, audit trails and role-based views.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: leading a design-system build or migration.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: writing RFCs or design docs that changed team direction.
  • Leadership and ownership experience: working in healthcare, pharmacy or other regulated-industry software.
  • No specific degree is needed. A CS or engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience is fine. Apply if you meet most of the required list and are excited about the work.
