Sr. UX Engineer

This is a design technologist and UX engineer role that builds tools and standards to help designers ship high-quality user experiences for Pinners and Advertisers, with strong focus on productivity, performance and quality.

You will bridge design and engineering, work closely with a small design team, and suggest improvements openly.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction of the design system's cross-platform libraries.
• Build solutions that work now and scale as needs grow.
• Partner with designers, product managers, management, business partners and subject matter experts.
• Keep design and UX intent intact in code, using sound architecture and data to connect design and engineering.
• Work inside the design system and help evolve it, including standards, guidelines and reusable components.
• Mentor teammates and take an active part in design and code reviews, team processes and decisions.
• Use AI to build and share high-fidelity prototypes for product alignment and user testing.
• Build tools that help designers and engineers use AI in their daily work.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a design technologist, engineer or UX engineer.
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• A record of delivering highly reliable, scalable technical solutions.
• Deep hands-on experience with native mobile UI development, including Android SDK, Kotlin, UIKit and Swift.
• Experience building a design system or leading design system work.
• The ability to split large problems into smaller decisions framed as trade-offs, such as time versus scope.
• A history of leading large cross-functional projects across several organizations, and championing developer experience, performance and quality.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
• Basic understanding of accessibility principles and a commitment to learning more.
• A proven ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in your daily work on relevant outputs.
• A strong record of keeping humans in the loop by critically checking and verifying AI-assisted work through testing, source checks, data validation and peer review.

Conditions

The role requires in-office time for in-person collaboration 1-2 times per year, and you can live anywhere in the country.

The position is remote.

The base salary range is $155,584 - $320,320 USD. Final pay depends on factors such as location, travel, relevant prior experience and specific skills.
