Product Engineer

Description

The company builds a referral platform for home services companies such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, pest control, and restoration, helping them turn each job and call into future work.

The founding team has backgrounds in VC and PE investing in home services software, and includes founding engineers from a large B2B healthcare marketplace backed by Sequoia. Former operators and executives from large home services companies are also backers.

The company is targeting a $650B market and already has signed enterprise customers in production.

You will decide what the company builds next and then write the production code to ship it. Roughly half your time goes to customer work and setting priorities, and half to shipping.

You should have 4+ years of experience building software products, including 3+ years writing production code, and hands-on experience building AI agents.

This suits an engineer who has owned product decisions or a product manager who still ships code. You will take a problem from a customer conversation to a working feature or integration in production yourself.

This is not a fit if you mainly want to write specs for others, manage a team, or run sprint ceremonies, or if you have not maintained code real customers use in production. You will write code most weeks and answer for whether your work moved the numbers.

Responsibilities

• Set a 2-3 month roadmap with the founders and justify it using revenue and usage data.
• Ship features end to end across frontend, API, and data layer, prototyping in code rather than slides.
• Scope and build field service and partner integrations, including the data model and edge cases.
• Build agents that turn support tickets, call transcripts, and product data into priorities, and add agentic features to the product.
• Spend time with technicians, call centers, owners, and enterprise brands to build solutions that cut their marketing spend.
• Launch alongside Sales and Customer Success, including with enterprise brands and franchisors.
• Define success criteria before release, instrument what you build, and remove features nobody uses.

Requirements

• 4+ years building software products, including 3+ years writing production code.
• Product ownership: you have decided what to build as a PM, founder, or tech lead and lived with the results.
• Hands-on AI work: you have built agents or LLM-powered features running in production and use Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools daily.
• Production experience with React, Python, and PostgreSQL. You work across frontend, API, and data layer, and are strong in SQL and data modeling.
• Business judgment: you identify the underlying need and prioritize by revenue and margin impact rather than the loudest voice.
• Customer contact: you have spent time with the people who use what you build, in the field or on their calls.
• Based in the U.S. or Canada.
• Preferred: founder or early employee at a startup.
• Preferred: experience at a high-growth B2B startup (Series A to C).
• Preferred: home services, field service, or franchise experience.
• Preferred: marketplace, payments, or integration-heavy product experience.

Conditions

Base pay of $150,000-$250,000, plus bonus.

Total compensation may also include an early-stage equity package.

Remote within the U.S. or Canada, with travel to customer sites and industry events.
