Field Engineering Specialist - San Diego, CA

Description

The company's support network looks after laboratory customers across an assigned territory.

This field role in the San Diego area involves travelling to install, repair and service the company's assigned product lines.

Responsibilities

• Give routine technical support and carry out on-site service at customer labs.
• Install and repair the assigned product lines.
• Run preventative maintenance visits.
• Act as the main technical and service contact for customers.
• Find and fix mechanical, hardware, software and system faults.
• Record all of your activities and help improve quality.
• Work to raise customer satisfaction as high as possible.

Requirements

• A high school diploma plus two years of technical school, or equivalent military training or work experience.
• Five years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical or system hardware and software, or networking and wireless networking. A relevant Bachelor's degree with one to two years of progressive experience also qualifies.
• Completed training or certification as set by RD Services Leadership and policy.
• Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight.
• Preferred: 8+ years of progressive experience, or a relevant Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of progressive experience, is required.
• Preferred: advanced knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, information technology and basic chemistry.
• Preferred: serving as an internal technical resource, providing after-hours and weekend or holiday support, and maintaining strong customer relationships is essential.

Conditions

Field-based role covering the San Diego area, and you must live within the territory.

The expected California base pay range is $71,000 to $132,000. Final pay depends on experience, qualifications, geographic location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
