Description

You will join a large enterprise IT group made up of 28 engineering disciplines, supporting tens of thousands of devices and users.

The work is cross-disciplinary and the problems and priorities keep changing. The company is looking for someone who likes taking systems apart to see how they work and keeps going until the answer is clear.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex IT issues, find root causes, research options, test hypotheses, and stay with a problem until you can recommend a fix.
  • Design capabilities that can be deployed, monitored, secured and maintained across 50,000 to 100,000 devices, rather than handling one system at a time.
  • Work across the 28 IT disciplines to see how systems interact and find changes that improve overall effectiveness.
  • Write scripts and automation with PowerShell, APIs, automation platforms and other development tools to remove manual work and build scalable solutions.
  • Track emerging technologies before they become requirements, and prototype and assess the ones that could help the enterprise.
  • Work with senior engineers and architects to build new capabilities, validate designs, troubleshoot existing environments and turn concepts into working operations.
  • Spot weaknesses, inefficiencies, security gaps and automation opportunities, and take ownership of fixing them.
  • You will get a hard problem, limited direction, and access to the environment and tools, and you are expected to dig until you have an answer.
  • You do not need to know every enterprise technology on day one, but you need to be able to work out how things function.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in arts or science, or equivalent experience.
  • Hold CompTIA Security+ CE certification and be 8570 compliant.
  • Background in running or building enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.
  • Experience with scripting or automation; PowerShell is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, networking, security and operations management.
  • Ability to research, test, analyze and build solutions on your own.
  • Clear communication, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, technical leaders and operations staff.
  • Ability to pick up unfamiliar technologies and systems quickly.
  • Must currently hold TS/SCI with polygraph clearance, or be able to obtain it.
  • US citizenship required.

Conditions

Onsite in Anchorage, Alaska, with an additional work location in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

40 scheduled hours per week.

Travel is less than 10%.

No Public Trust or other clearance is required.

Identity verification uses biometrics and AI. Virtual interviews require you to be on camera, and by continuing you authorize collection of your biometric data for identity checks.

The likely salary range is $148,750 to $201,250. This is not a guarantee; pay is set by experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements, and may fall outside this range.

The company is an equal opportunity employer, including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Benefits

  • Medical plan options, some with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with pre- and post-tax contributions up to IRS limits and a company match.
  • Full flex work weeks where possible, plus vacation, sick and personal time, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement and jury duty leave.
  • Short and long-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel and accident insurance, provided or available.
  • An AI-powered career tool that identifies career steps and learning opportunities, and an internal mobility team.
  • Competitive pay and paid time off.
  • A military-friendly workplace.
