Senior VDI Engineer - Top Secret

This VDI Engineer role supports an intelligence customer in Springfield, VA, with an additional site in Arnold, MO. You will work on a large, globally used virtual desktop environment and take the lead on performance problems across the organization.

Required clearance: currently hold an active Top Secret/SCI. Must be able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI with polygraph. Job family: IT Infrastructure and Operations. Position type: regular.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain a large virtual desktop environment accessed worldwide.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for diagnosing and fixing VDI performance issues across the organization.
• Handle system design and integration, identity lifecycle management, and process automation and improvement.
• Provide Tier 3 and Tier 4 support to system administrators to resolve VDI issues.
• Advise on desktop optimization for platform interoperability and link the different VDI technologies together.
• Troubleshoot and resolve endpoint and virtual desktop issues.
• Apply advanced knowledge of VDI administration, engineering, and implementation.
• Work across multiple complex production environments with many stakeholders.
• Bring deep expertise to related disciplines when needed.
• Run trade studies and recommend solutions, including make-or-buy decisions.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. You must be able to sponsor a polygraph.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• 5+ years of related experience, with a BS degree or an equivalent mix of experience and education.
• Career progression from administrator to senior engineer.
• Engineering support experience with legacy and current Citrix products.
• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops v7.15 and later.
• Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) and Machine Creation Services (MCS).
• Citrix Cloud Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD).
• Citrix NetScaler / ADC / VPX.
• Citrix Workspace Environment Management (WEM).
• Citrix App Layering.
• Liquidware Profile Unity.
• Hyper-V and VMware VDI (Microsoft or Citrix NetScalers / ADCs).
• Familiarity with HP AnyConnect and Leostream.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Preferred: experience managing and administering Windows Server clustering.
• Preferred: experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Preferred: experience with System Center Virtual Machine Manager or VMware vCenter 6.7.
• Preferred: experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Preferred: experience with home directory and profile management support.
• Preferred: experience with desktop software provisioning and support.

Conditions

Primary location is Springfield, VA, with an additional work location in Arnold, MO.

Onsite work model.

40 scheduled hours per week.

The likely salary range is $125,800 to $170,200. This is not a guaranteed figure. Pay depends on experience and geographic location, may be affected by contract requirements, and may fall outside this range.
