Description

You will help hit the division's revenue target by delivering a strong technical solution to a major US key account.

The role centres on the next generation of wearable vision products, where optical performance and user experience are critical.

You will work alongside highly capable engineers and manufacturing specialists on programs that carry real strategic weight.

The team works in an environment where technical precision, careful detail work and flawless execution are required.

You will build your skills as a technical project leader using the most current product development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own a project from first concept through to industrialization for advanced spectacle lens programs.
  • Lead multi-year new product and technology programs with high technical uncertainty, repeated development cycles and strict industrialization readiness gates.
  • Set the sequence and priority of work and approve phase transitions within set governance structures, following corporate development processes, quality systems, and regulatory and safety rules.
  • Hold full accountability for delivery results, share milestone and investment approvals with functional leads, and escalate strategic trade-offs to your supervisor when needed.
  • Turn demanding and shifting customer requirements on optics, manufacturability, cost and regulation into measurable project goals.
  • Write project plans, milestones and deliverables that match internal standards, change control rules and customer or contract commitments.
  • Decide requirement priorities and propose technical scope with technical experts, while senior management signs off on commercial or contract interpretations.
  • Serve as the main link between R&D, manufacturing, quality, regulatory and supply chain, resolving dependencies that affect feasibility, scale-up and time to market.
  • Make day-to-day decisions on cross-functional alignment and sequencing, and make resource and strategy decisions jointly with functional leaders.
  • Manage scope, schedule, risks and dependencies when data is incomplete, work runs in parallel and deadlines are tight, starting mitigation early through formal risk reviews and scenario analysis.
  • Make corrective decisions within the approved project frame and escalate major scope or timeline changes to your supervisor.
  • Run regular, decision-focused communication with internal teams and external stakeholders, turning technical detail into clear next steps while respecting confidentiality and disclosure rules.
  • Set communication frequency, content and escalation level, and align messages to key customers or executives with senior leadership.
  • Spot technical, organizational and execution problems early, escalate them with fact-based options and impact estimates, and steer teams toward practical, high-quality solutions.
  • Keep performance, cost and quality on target within ambitious timelines using KPIs and deviation analysis, and escalate financial or strategic deviations to your supervisor.
  • Lead customer relationships directly by preparing and running meetings and following up on actions, including visits to company sites or customer headquarters.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • A track record of running complex technical development projects, ideally in optics, medical devices, consumer electronics or other high-precision fields with direct customer contact.
  • Ability to bring structure to unclear problems and turn changing requirements into workable plans.
  • Skill in managing stakeholders, including demanding, detail-focused customers.
  • Ability to lead and align teams without formal authority and keep momentum under pressure.
  • Clear, concise communication that balances technical depth with executive-level clarity.
  • Resilience and a pragmatic, solution-focused approach, comfortable with conflict and high expectations.
  • Solid grasp of product development lifecycles and cross-functional work.
  • Experience working with corporate, commercial, R&D, engineering, regulatory, legal, marketing, IT, suppliers, finance and customer leadership teams.
