Description

The company is a global leader in digital security. It designs and delivers products, software and services built on two core areas: digital identification and data protection.

The company is hiring an Engineering Delivery Manager because business activity has grown. You will lead the solution team and deliver each solution on the committed budget, schedule, quality and performance, for both winning bids and running projects. You will coordinate and track all engineering work across the full life cycle of a bid or project.

Your near-term aim is to help the team deliver well now. That means giving leaders a reliable view of the situation, measuring real progress, spotting and fixing problems early, making sure the right people with the right skills are in place when needed, encouraging collaboration, and sharing experience, reusing work and asking for advice.

Your longer-term aim is to help the team deliver well tomorrow. That means turning strategy into a practical roadmap, tracking and improving the company's competitiveness, preparing for what clients will expect, and anticipating the engineering capabilities the company will need. Working with the engineering organisation, you will analyse gaps and propose plans covering the skills, technologies and building blocks needed for successful delivery.

In Romania, the company's engineering teams develop and integrate software and systems for naval, maritime, air traffic, satellite, simulation and identity and biometric markets.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure engineering work stays within the limits of each bid or project, the approved architecture, design rules, contracts and company quality requirements.
  • Apply suitable practices, the company's DDQS process and tools, scaled to the maturity the project needs.
  • Lead joint discussions and co-engineering between internal teams, suppliers and customers to analyse, rank and confirm stakeholder requirements.
  • Make sure engineering scope, plans and output meet customer requirements and arrive on time, on budget and at the required quality.
  • Work with the Design Authority to review and sign off studies comparing design options, and advise customers and internal technical teams.
  • With the Project Manager, set the engineering work breakdown structure, project organisation, task schedule, engineering KPIs and related tasks. Adjust them as needed so every baseline requirement is met with the least waste.
  • Set the strategy for development, incremental builds, validation and project commissioning.
  • Track progress against the relevant KPIs so you can see problems coming and fix them quickly at each project phase.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal management and the customer.
  • Carry project synergies and lessons learnt across projects to lower the cost of technical solutions.
  • Manage engineering risks and opportunities through bid and project phases, with mitigation plans. Make sure programme commitments are kept, including those passed down to subcontractors and partners.
  • Balance technical work against cost, schedule and risk, from design through validation and acceptance.
  • Manage the Work Package Managers and the Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) Manager so their milestones are completed.
  • Take on other duties agreed with the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • You can check the technical outputs of engineering teams, including customer needs, OCD, requirements and architecture choices.
  • You can lead and manage technical engineering projects, meet requirements, and keep a clear view of risks and opportunities.
  • You can engage and influence a varied group of stakeholders and set clear, achievable goals.
  • You can make decisions even when the situation is uncertain.
  • You put the customer first and communicate well.
  • You speak French at B2 level or above.
  • You can show the following behaviours from the company Leadership Behavioural Model: acting with agility to keep business goals in view; handling several layers of complexity to reach business goals; engaging stakeholders toward a shared goal; building a competitive edge by managing risk, spotting opportunities and driving continuous improvement; and developing others so the company keeps improving for its customers.
  • You will work closely with the Project Manager and the Project Design Authority (PDA) on specific projects.

Conditions

The role is based within the company's Romanian engineering operation.

Reporting runs through the Project Manager and the Project Design Authority.
