This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Des Moines, Iowa office.
This entry level position contributes to the development, maintenance, and support of Commercial Agribusiness applications and services. The associate will deliver defined software work with guidance from experienced team members, following established requirements, design direction, coding practices, security controls, and delivery processes.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high-quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll code, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain applications.
Responsibilities
Implement, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain application code, APIs, and interfaces for assigned work. Break down defined tasks, raise questions when requirements or impacts are unclear, and communicate progress or risks to the team.
Learn the supported application landscape, data flows, and business processes. Develop working knowledge of the teams applications.
Contribute to application maintenance and modernization using technologies including Java, Spring Boot/Spring MVC, Angular, REST APIs, relational databases, CI/CD, and container platforms.
Desired background
A foundation in computer science, information systems, software development, or a related area is appropriate for the role. Relevant programming coursework or experience, basic understanding of the software development lifecycle, and willingness to learn team tools. Previous internship experience is valued.

Develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to engineering standards and best practices.
Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Use DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
Demonstrate continuous improvement and learning.
Review and process project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education : Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or other related degrees are preferred. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience : Early career opportunity with one or more years of technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Good problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, such as competencies and experiences, may take precedence.
