Software Engineer (Python AND AI)

Description

Software engineer role in Chennai centred on Python, FastAPI, Azure and AI.

You will build scalable software and AI features and carry a project from requirements to production.

The systems you work on handle very large volumes of consumer and retail data for clients worldwide.

The company is a consumer intelligence firm formed in 2023 when it combined with GfK. It is an Advent International portfolio company with operations in 100+ markets, covering more than 90% of the world's population.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and maintain scalable Python applications.
• Create AI and generative AI solutions for business problems.
• Turn business needs into technical designs you can then build.
• Develop APIs, microservices and backend services and connect them.
• Shape database schemas, tune queries, and keep data accurate and fast.
• Own projects end to end, from gathering requirements to production release.
• Assess new technologies and AI frameworks to make engineering faster.
• Investigate production incidents and resolve them quickly.
• Uphold coding, security and best-practice standards.
• Work alongside Product, Engineering, Data and Operations teams.
• Write design documents, technical documentation and operational runbooks.
• Join architecture discussions and help shape technical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, IT or a related field.
• 4-7 years of professional experience building enterprise-grade software.
• Hands-on Python skills, with solid knowledge of OOP, data structures and design principles.
• Proven record designing microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including modeling, tuning and query optimization.
• Strong SQL, including indexing and database design.
• Good grasp of REST APIs, asynchronous processing, messaging patterns and scalable design.
• Experience with Azure or GCP.
• Knowledge of design patterns, system architecture and engineering best practices.
• Strong problem solving, with the ability to drive complex solutions on your own.
• Proven ability to use AI-assisted development while keeping rigor, security, code quality and architectural standards.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
