Engineer Systems Requirements (interim)

Description

The naval division of the family-owned the company Shipyards Group is hiring an interim Engineer Systems Requirements. The group has 12,000 staff worldwide.

The naval division builds advanced naval vessels for clients around the world and applies the newest technology in its designs.

The role centres on capturing and managing customer requirements for a naval shipbuilding project, making sure they line up with project deliverables and rely on solid Requirements Management practice.

Responsibilities

• Capture customer requirements in DOORS.
• Set up requirements baselines and keep every change traceable.
• Analyse, group and break down requirements into clear functional and non-functional specifications.
• Help make requirements smart and consistent, and resolve conflicts between them.
• Communicate proactively with project colleagues so requirements are understood and captured correctly.
• Structure requirements for specific work packages, whether they are built in-house or subcontracted.
• Track development progress and report requirement status to internal stakeholders.
• Carry out systems verification to gather objective evidence of compliance.
• You report to the Manager Systems Engineering and work operationally with the Principal Architect, defining clear process and product specifications for engineering teams and subcontracted work packages.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree with knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, especially Requirements Management.
• Experience with DOORS is a plus.
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes, including deriving requirements from operational scenarios.
• Experience with, or willingness to take part in, international development projects within a matrix organisation.
• Common sense, logical thinking and comfort with digital tools.
• A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for shared project goals.
• Good coordination and management skills for technical and engineering work, with clear reporting.
• Excellent written and spoken English is required. German is highly beneficial and Dutch is an advantage.
• Excellent references and a clean background, as a pre-employment security screening is standard.

Conditions

Temporary assignment offered only as secondment (detachering) or temporary employment. Freelance or ZZP agreements are not accepted under current Dutch law.

Working hours: full-time or part-time, with the number of hours stated in your application.

Flexible working from home up to two days a week.

Pre-assignment and security screening and investigation are part of the hiring process.
