Description

The company is hiring a senior staff full stack developer for its simulation team, which works on validating autonomous driving systems. The role is remote: the hire may live anywhere in Canada and does not need to report to a company site unless their manager directs otherwise.

This is a new position, not a vacancy replacing an existing one. Artificial Intelligence will be used in parts of the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Set the architecture roadmap for the simulation scenario definition platform, its programmatic SDK in TypeScript and Python, or both.
  • Lead the design and build of the next-generation graphical editors that hundreds of engineers use to define detailed scenarios covering traffic, environment and sensors.
  • Guide the evolution of the Python infrastructure, with a focus on core algorithms for scenario serialization and validation and on connecting them to the large cloud compute cluster.
  • Work alongside the team as a hands-on mentor, setting the bar for API design, code quality and testing.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional software development experience, much of it on large-scale platforms, tooling or SDKs.
  • A record of leading technical architecture and carrying complex projects spanning several quarters from concept to production.
  • Strong front-end experience with TypeScript on sophisticated graphical applications, using frameworks such as React or Vue and graphics or mapping libraries such as WebGL, Three.js or MapboxGL.
  • Expert Python skills, including deep knowledge of best practices, performance tuning, and building robust APIs and SDKs for outside users.
  • A proven history of mentoring and coaching mid-level and senior engineers, raising the technical bar and enforcing code quality within a team.
  • Nice to have: a solid grounding in 3D graphics, computational geometry or real-time simulation.
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience building or extending a domain-specific language or a high-level scripting language.
  • Nice to have: background with game engines such as Unity or Unreal, or other professional simulation software.
  • Nice to have: experience visualizing large, complex datasets.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with autonomous vehicle architecture, such as perception, planning and controls, or with other complex, safety-critical robotics systems.

Conditions

The base salary range is $167,000 to $216,200. The final offer within that range depends on factors relevant to the position.

The company does NOT sponsor immigration for this role. Do not apply if you will need company immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
