Description

The company is a diversified manufacturer that works with well-known brands to design, build and deliver new products.

This role reports to the EH&S Manager and sits on the site team as an EH&S Engineer 4.

You will lead the setup, rollout and ongoing improvement of environmental, health, safety and sustainability programs across the site.

The job is strategic: you will shape safety culture, keep the site compliant and support sustainable practices.

You will act as a go-to adviser for site leadership and work with other functions to keep the workplace safe, healthy and environmentally responsible.

Job category: Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's environmental, health, safety and sustainability programs so they meet federal, state, local and customer rules.
  • Run continuous improvement work that cuts workplace hazards, raises environmental results and builds a stronger safety culture.
  • Carry out risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations, including root cause analysis. Make sure corrective and preventive actions happen on time.
  • Work with operations, facilities, engineering and leaders to check new equipment, processes and facility changes for EH&S compliance and risk.
  • Own regulatory reporting, compliance work, employee training, contractor safety oversight and sustainability projects, and advise site staff and managers along the way.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of environmental, health and safety rules, including OSHA, EPA, hazardous materials handling, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and emergency response.
  • Hands-on experience building, running and managing EH&S programs in a manufacturing setting.
  • You have investigated incidents, assessed risk, run compliance checks and managed corrective actions.
  • You have a record of leading cross-functional projects and winning buy-in from stakeholders at every level.
  • Background in sustainability work, environmental management systems and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analysis, writing, teaching and presenting skills, and the ability to get employees, customers, regulators and senior leaders on board.
  • You can read regulations, technical standards and company policy and apply them to daily operations.
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, is typically required.
  • Typically 7+ years of EH&S work in manufacturing or industrial settings, including leading programs, projects or people.
  • Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA credentials, emergency medical certification or hazmat training are preferred.
  • Expert operational, technical and leadership skills, with the ability to push strategic EH&S goals across the site and contribute to wider company goals.
