Description

The company builds HR Service Delivery (HRSD), a portfolio that helps organizations deliver smooth employee experiences through intelligent workflows, case management, knowledge, lifecycle events, document management and AI-powered employee assistance.

This role leads an engineering organization of about 20 engineers who build and run HRSD services used by some of the world's largest enterprises.

The role also includes shaping how AI changes software engineering, with the goal of putting engineering time back into customer value and product innovation rather than only gaining efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical strategy, architecture, delivery and operational quality of key HRSD services, including employee service management, knowledge, lifecycle workflows, document management and emerging AI-powered HR solutions.
  • Lead the development of AI-native features that help employees find information, complete tasks, resolve issues and get through key moments in their employment. Work closely with product and design to turn customer needs into solutions.
  • Make long-term architecture decisions that improve scalability, reliability, extensibility and operational efficiency. Balance near-term delivery with platform modernization and technical innovation.
  • Promote AI-assisted engineering across the software development lifecycle. Use modern AI tools to raise developer productivity, automate repetitive work, improve quality and speed up delivery, while keeping clear engineering accountability and oversight.
  • Hire, grow and keep strong engineers. Coach engineers and emerging leaders, build a culture of ownership and continuous learning, and set up conditions for teams to do their best work.
  • Set a high standard for software quality, operational rigor, security, reliability and maintainability. Use data and metrics to improve engineering effectiveness, system health and customer outcomes.
  • Work with Product Management, Design, Customer Success, Platform Engineering and executive leadership to set priorities, deliver work and create customer value.
  • Build services that meet strict standards for security, privacy, compliance and responsible AI, protecting sensitive employee data while supporting innovation at enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including a record of shipping enterprise-scale products and services.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
  • A track record of driving technical strategy and execution across several teams and stakeholders.
  • A history of building and leading high-performing engineering organizations.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, APIs, data platforms and enterprise software development.
  • Experience building and running highly available, mission-critical services at scale.
  • Proficiency in a modern language such as Java, Python, Go or similar.
  • Solid grounding in software architecture, system design, observability, performance and reliability engineering.
  • Experience building, integrating or running AI-powered product features.
  • Familiarity with large language models, retrieval systems, agentic workflows, semantic search and current AI development frameworks.
  • Interest in applying AI and automation to improve both customer experience and engineering productivity.
  • Sound technical judgment and a customer-first approach.
  • Ability to balance innovation with operational excellence.
  • Clear communication and influence with both technical and executive audiences.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and developing future leaders.
  • Comfortable in fast-moving environments and able to bring clarity to complex problems.
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
