Description

The company develops innovative medicines across immunology, oncology and neuroscience, and also offers aesthetics products.

This director-level role sets the Data and AI architecture direction for the Operations and Finance functions, keeping it in step with company-wide priorities and changes to how the business works.

You will give senior architecture guidance across Data and AI technology, turning complicated business needs into scalable, secure and reusable technical patterns.

You will work with business, technology, enterprise architecture, security, compliance and vendor teams to define the target architecture, inform investment choices and deliver trusted Data and AI solutions across the Operations and Finance portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Set the multi-year architecture vision and roadmap for Operations and Finance Data and AI, and align it with enterprise data and AI standards, business goals, regulatory demands and technology budgets.
  • Design the target operating model for architecture: governance, decision rights, review processes, reusable patterns and clear ownership between business and technology groups.
  • Build a strong group of senior architects, grow their capability and succession depth, and run an architecture community of practice with enterprise architects.
  • Shape the tooling and partner strategy for data and AI, assess key vendors, influence sourcing, and run complex proofs of concept and due diligence tied to long-term capability.
  • Define patterns for using trusted enterprise data products, semantic services, knowledge graphs and retrieval services in scalable AI-powered business applications.
  • Help manage finances for a large architecture and transformation portfolio: shape annual and multi-year investment plans, keep costs under control and set value expectations.
  • Write architecture standards for the Data and AI platform and applications, covering data platform, data products, MLOps, agent orchestration, multi-agent collaboration, human-in-the-loop controls, memory management, runtime observability, guardrails and responsible AI.
  • Set runtime standards for scalability, resilience, performance, monitoring, telemetry, observability, disaster recovery and operational readiness of Data and AI applications.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's degree plus 10 years, master's plus 9 years, or PhD plus 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Required: A track record of building roadmaps, target architectures and modernization investment strategies.
  • Required: Experience leading architecture teams, coaching architects and growing architecture practices.
  • Required: Deep knowledge of cloud-native, lakehouse, event-driven, microservices, API-first and GenAI application architectures.
  • Required: Experience setting up architecture governance, review boards, standards and operating models.
  • Required: Ability to persuade executives by linking technology choices to business value and risk.
  • Preferred: Experience with SAP platforms (S/4HANA, BW, BPC, Datasphere) and SAP-integrated Data and AI solutions.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with UI and UX patterns for Data and AI applications, including agent-assisted experiences.
  • Preferred: Understanding of model selection, fine-tuning, optimization and cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Preferred: Work in regulated industries with strong security, compliance and quality demands.
