Description

The company makes an FDA-approved implantable medical device that reduces obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity in people who cannot tolerate CPAP or do not get consistent benefit from it.

The Digital Product Owner maximizes the value delivered by one or more agile product teams. You work from product strategy and outcomes set with the Product Manager and wider product team, turning priorities into a clear, ready-to-build backlog, making timely team-level calls, and checking that finished work meets the agreed acceptance criteria.

You work daily with design, engineering, systems, architecture, quality, regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, data, operations, vendors and business stakeholders to deliver usable, reliable, secure and compliant digital capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own, rank and keep refining the team backlog so it serves product outcomes, the roadmap, quality, technical health and operations.
  • Turn product goals, user needs, business rules, regulatory requirements and technical constraints into well-defined backlog items, user stories, acceptance criteria and context.
  • Make sure items are understood, sliced, sequenced and ready before delivery, working with the team rather than writing requirements alone.
  • Decide priority, scope and clarification questions day to day, within the product direction and your decision rights.
  • Balance new features, defects, technical debt, security, quality, compliance, maintenance and operational work using visible priorities.
  • Accept or reject finished work against agreed acceptance criteria and confirm it delivers the intended outcome.
  • Give the team product context, sprint goals, priorities and fast answers during delivery.
  • Take part in planning, refinement, reviews and retrospectives, and work with the Scrum Master or delivery lead on flow and team health.
  • Work with design, engineering, testing, systems, architecture, data and quality colleagues to find dependencies, resolve ambiguity and lower delivery risk.
  • Manage incoming requests, triage urgent work and defects, and make trade-offs visible to the Product Manager and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate priorities and dependencies across teams and keep one transparent record of committed and upcoming work.
  • Support release planning, readiness, validation, deployment and post-release monitoring.
  • Represent user and customer needs within the team and keep work tied to the problem, expected outcome and product strategy.
  • Join discovery, solution validation and the turning of findings into delivery-ready work with the Product Manager and design or research partners.
  • Collect feedback from users, stakeholders, support channels, analytics and product operations to guide backlog decisions.
  • Demonstrate finished capabilities and communicate delivered value, open decisions, risks and next steps.
  • Build quality, regulatory, privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, clinical, safety and data requirements into backlog items and acceptance criteria.
  • Keep traceability and support product development records, reviews, approvals and change controls in the quality management system.
  • Work with the team so reliability, performance, observability, security, supportability and maintainability are considered.
  • Support defect triage and post-market improvements as assigned.
  • Use delivery and product data to spot bottlenecks, quality trends and ways to improve flow and delivered value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, healthcare administration or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in product ownership, business analysis, software delivery, engineering, design, quality, program management or a related digital product role.
  • Experience managing and ranking a product backlog and writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies and team goals.
  • Experience as an embedded partner to cross-functional agile software teams, including internal or external delivery partners.
  • Ability to turn user, business, technical and compliance needs into actionable team-level work.
  • Sound judgment and confidence to decide quickly, knowing when to bring in the Product Manager or other decision makers.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, organization, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using delivery tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira and reading delivery and product data.
  • Preferred: experience in healthcare, medical devices, regulated software, software as a medical device or another regulated industry.
  • Preferred: experience with quality systems, design controls, risk management, human factors, privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility or validation.
  • Preferred: experience with mobile applications, web products, cloud services, APIs, data products, identity and access capabilities or connected devices.
  • Preferred: agile or product ownership certification.
  • Preferred: experience working with distributed or vendor development teams.
  • On-site role.
