Description

The company builds vehicles, and this internship focuses on their digital side: in-vehicle displays, companion mobile apps and web experiences.

You will work alongside product designers, engineers, researchers and product owners. The work includes user testing and rider research, aimed at making these products easy to understand and practical for riders in real conditions.

This is a hands-on internship that covers the whole design process, from early concepts and wireframes through testing, revisions and handoff to engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape vehicle display interfaces, including infotainment, controls and system UI.
  • Contribute to design work for mobile apps and web experiences that work alongside vehicle systems.
  • Build wireframes, user flows, interaction concepts and high-fidelity screens.
  • Help keep design systems, components and UI standards current and in use.
  • Prepare assets, specs and documentation so engineers can build the designs.
  • Plan and run usability tests, user interviews and rider testing sessions.
  • Help synthesize research findings and turn them into design recommendations.
  • Join design reviews and critiques with product managers, engineers and researchers.
  • Revise designs based on feedback, test results and technical limits.
  • Handle routine design tasks such as asset creation, file organization and updates.

Requirements

  • You are currently pursuing a BS or BA in digital product design, UX or UI design, interaction design, industrial design, HCI or a closely related field.
  • You are familiar with design tools such as Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD, or similar tools.
  • You understand UX principles, usability and interaction design.
  • You have a strong eye for visual design and pay close attention to detail.
  • You can explain ideas clearly through sketches, wireframes and prototypes.
  • You care about user-centered design and making decisions based on research.
  • You are comfortable in a collaborative setting where feedback is frequent.
  • You can manage several tasks at once and adapt when priorities change.
  • Preferred: experience with user testing and gathering feedback.
  • A plus, but not required: interest in powersports, automotive or outdoor recreation.
  • A portfolio is required. It can include school projects, personal projects or internship work, and should show UX and UI thinking, not only final visuals, such as wireframes, user flows, interaction design or prototypes. Explain your design decisions and problem-solving approach. Case studies do not need to be polished, since clear thinking matters more than perfection.
  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You are legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • You pass pre-employment background checks, if they apply.

Conditions

Based in Medina, MN or Novi, MI. You must be open and willing to relocate.

Team-based, collaborative office or studio setting with a quick pace.

Mix of desk work and occasional user or rider testing sessions, which may include observing or taking part in vehicle or field testing.

Pay range is $19.50 to $30.75 per hour. The starting range for Minnesota is the same, with overtime eligibility. Individual pay depends on factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography, and starting near the top of the range is uncommon.

You must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Visa sponsorship will not be provided.

Former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
