Description

The company builds rockets, and the software, data and AI running on them depend on dependable infrastructure and automated delivery.

IT Operations supplies the secure, reliable and scalable technology base for the company's AI and data work, spanning cloud and on-premises environments.

The company is expanding in-house software development and its use of data and AI, so the goal is faster, repeatable and resilient delivery.

The company is a fast-growing New Space business that provides launch services for small and medium-sized satellites and constellations into Low Earth Orbit. It is privately funded by technology investors and has a team of driven, talented people.

The team works on cutting-edge projects and treats platform engineering as a product, with developer experience and automation at its core.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and manage infrastructure across Azure, AWS and on-premises using Terraform, Bicep and Ansible, and treat any manual configuration as a defect.
  • Run, scale and tune VMware vSphere and Proxmox VE hypervisors and the internal private cloud compute built on them.
  • Deploy, configure and operate enterprise Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters for scalable microservices and AI and data workloads.
  • Set standards for container packaging, deployment strategies and runtime security across Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Build and improve enterprise CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI/CD and Argo CD so code is integrated, tested and deployed quickly and reliably.
  • Work with software engineering, data and IT teams to remove deployment bottlenecks, simplify build environments and promote shared DevOps practices.
  • Investigate complex system failures, recover quickly by finding root causes, and build security into the application and infrastructure lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Have 3-5+ years of hands-on DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or cloud platform engineering experience in production.
  • Take ownership of problems, have a record of automating work and simplifying complicated architectures, and perform well under pressure.
  • Be advanced in Linux, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Debian.
  • Have hands-on experience designing and running production environments on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
  • Have hands-on experience with VMware (ESXi/vCenter) and Proxmox VE (KVM/LXC).
  • Have hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes clusters and Docker.
  • Have deep experience with Terraform, Ansible, Bicep and scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
  • Have proven experience with GitLab CI/CD or Argo CD, and a working understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, ingress routing, firewall rules and database administration for SQL and NoSQL.
  • Certifications that are valued include Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, RHCE, RHCSA, CKA, CKAD, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or SysOps, and Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
  • You are encouraged to apply even if you do not meet every qualification. The company wants to hear how your skills and ideas could help it keep improving.
