Lead Full Stack Software Engineer - Internal Platforms (f/m/d)

Description

The company builds launch vehicles for small and medium-sized satellites and constellations in Low Earth Orbit, aiming to make space access cheaper, more sustainable and more scalable.

The team is looking for a hands-on lead to build modern internal software platforms and applications for a fast-growing organization.

You will design and build software that links people, processes and data across engineering, manufacturing, operations and business functions, working directly with stakeholders to find where automation and digitalization can help.

The role is greenfield development, so you will own applications from the start and help shape how internal technology is built.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build and release of modern internal applications and platforms.
• Build scalable, maintainable full-stack solutions covering frontend, backend services, APIs and databases.
• Own applications from first concept and prototype through production and later changes.
• Define software architecture, data models, integration patterns and development standards.
• Make sure solutions meet targets for performance, reliability, security and maintainability.
• Set engineering practices such as automated testing, code review, CI/CD and documentation.
• Work with stakeholders in engineering, manufacturing, operations and business to find software-driven improvements.
• Turn complex operational needs into simple, user-friendly applications.
• Prototype quickly, test ideas with end users and iterate on their feedback.
• Build applications that streamline workflows, improve data access and transparency, and cut manual work.
• Replace fragmented tools, spreadsheets and manual processes with integrated software.
• Balance fast delivery of business value with sound long-term technical choices.
• Design and implement integrations between internal applications, enterprise software and engineering systems.
• Build robust APIs and data services for interoperability across the organization.
• Work with relational databases and with structured and unstructured data.
• Work with enterprise systems and data engineering teams so applications fit the wider technology landscape.
• Set technical direction and guide architectural decisions as a technical leader.
• Promote AI-assisted coding and agentic development tools.
• Use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or OpenAI Codex to speed up prototyping, development, testing and documentation where suitable.
• Assess new technologies and choose tools based on practical business value.
• Help build the internal engineering team, including mentoring future members.
• Encourage ownership, experimentation, continuous improvement and high engineering quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial hands-on full-stack development.
• Strong frontend skills in TypeScript or JavaScript and a framework such as React, Angular or Vue.
• Experience building backend applications and APIs in Python, Node.js, Java, C or a comparable language.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server, including data modelling and query optimization.
• Experience delivering production applications with authentication, authorization, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Solid grasp of software architecture, distributed systems and application integration patterns.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
• Proven ability to take an idea from requirements to a deployed implementation on your own.
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity and a pragmatic approach to engineering.
• Ability to work well with stakeholders from technical and business backgrounds.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Experience building internal tools, operational applications or enterprise software platforms.
• Experience with software for manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, logistics or other complex operational settings.
• Familiarity with ERP, PLM or other enterprise systems and their integration interfaces.
• Experience building responsive web and mobile-friendly interfaces.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines or real-time applications.
• Practical use of AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents to raise productivity.
• Experience in fast-growing companies or greenfield product development.
• Prior experience leading technically, mentoring developers or owning application architecture.
• You build as well as design: you make architecture decisions and are equally willing to write code, debug and ship.
• You think like a product owner, focused on the end user and the real problems the software solves.
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and can turn vague problems into clear requirements and working solutions.
• You know when to prototype fast and when to invest in robust, scalable engineering.
• You take responsibility for your applications from concept through production.
• You try new tools, including AI-assisted engineering, without lowering standards for code quality and security.
• You like working with the people who use your software and seeing its effect.
