Software Platform Engineer

The software engineering department, part of the Engineering cluster, builds combat and information management systems for navy ships, integrates them with sensor and weapon systems, and develops sensor processing applications.

Selected partners around the world rely on these systems to keep people safe in high-stakes moments where the outcome matters enormously.

The team is looking for a Software Platform Engineer for the Csharks team, a multidisciplinary Agile group that builds and tests the infrastructure software platforms behind the combat management, radar and optical sensor systems.

The team owns the whole development chain, from requirements analysis through development, integration, testing and validation, to showing where the product currently stands.

Responsibilities

• Work through the full development chain with your team: requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, validation and status demonstrations.
• Work in Scrum and DevOps, where tasks shift with each project and sprint, so you might move from Python programming to network engineering with little notice.
• Stay flexible as your focus changes from one sprint to the next.
• Investigate and adopt new technologies and working methods, and have the nerve to try them out.

Requirements

• You enjoy specifying, developing and testing IT infrastructure components and keep building both technical and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with network technologies such as TCP/IP, UDP, FASTPATH and IOS.
• Software development experience in languages such as Python, Bash, C, C++ or Java.
• Experience with several of the following: Git-based source control, continuous integration tooling such as Jenkins, infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, and container technology such as Podman or Docker.
• Preferably, experience with Agile methods and their tooling, such as Jira.
• Comfort integrating and collaborating with other teams.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, IT service management or an equivalent field.
• Fluent English, able to communicate with both technical and management stakeholders, and a flexible approach.
• Interest in naval systems and in technology.

Conditions

A 40 hours contract (preferably).
