Description

The role leads the strategic direction of one or more products, setting the product vision, market strategy and competitive analysis. You look ahead to how the product will change over time and work with marketing, engineering, operations and sales so everyone shares the same product strategy. Decisions rest on data and market research, and you use them to rank product features.

You will own the product vision and roadmap for the enterprise data platform in the company UK. The aim is a central, scalable and easy-to-use data experience that serves the needs of several businesses and user groups. You will shape features that help users find, access and work with data, while keeping data governance and access controls strong.

This is an Assistant Vice President level role. The post holder advises on and influences decisions, contributes to policy and is responsible for operational effectiveness, working closely with other functions and business divisions. If the role carries people leadership, the leader sets objectives, coaches staff, appraises performance and decides reward outcomes, and demonstrates the LEAD behaviours: Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others. Individual contributors instead lead collaborative assignments, bring in other specialisms where needed and find new directions for projects, combining cross-functional methods to reach the required outcomes.

The company is based in the UK and has a product team working on the enterprise data platform.

Responsibilities

  • Set the product strategy so it fits the business vision, manages capabilities, balances short-term and long-term goals, meets market demand and drives growth.
  • Lead relationships across functions to keep product strategy and goals aligned.
  • Oversee product risk: spot potential risks, plan how to reduce them and keep the product management and control functions aligned.
  • Own the product lifecycle from concept to launch, making sure processes are efficient, delivery is on time and the end-to-end customer experience is met.
  • Define clear objectives and key outcomes that steer the product vision and match company business goals, financial targets and strategic vision.
  • Track product performance with data, review progress against objectives and adjust the strategy to get better outcomes and more value for the business and customers.
  • Put customer insight at the centre of the product strategy and decisions, using feedback, behaviour and pain points to guide a customer-first approach.
  • Understand pricing models, cost structures and return on investment so product development decisions are grounded in finance.
  • Lead a team on complex work that affects the whole function, setting objectives, coaching people and appraising performance. Or, as an individual contributor, guide collaborative assignments and bring in other specialisms as needed.
  • Advise People Leaders on escalated issues, helping them resolve complex problems.
  • Find ways to reduce risk and write new policies and procedures that support control and governance.
  • Take ownership of risk and strengthen controls for your own work.
  • Work with other areas to understand how they coordinate and contribute to the wider objectives, and keep up with business activity and strategy.
  • Analyse complex data from internal and external sources, including practices from other teams and companies, to solve problems creatively.
  • Explain complex or sensitive information to different audiences, and influence stakeholders to reach outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the company Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship, and the company Mindset to Empower, Challenge and Drive.

Requirements

  • Experience in data product management, including defining product vision, strategy and roadmaps.
  • Experience with data platforms and data ecosystems.
  • Experience driving adoption of new platforms or technologies, including helping users migrate from existing tools and ways of working.
  • Experience with user-centred design and customer-focused product development.
  • Digital transformation experience is highly valued.
  • A strong understanding of market trends and customer needs is highly valued.
  • Experience with data, analytics and product management tools is highly valued.
  • You may be assessed on risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.

Conditions

The role is based in Northampton (Pavilion Drive) or Knutsford (Radbroke Hall).

Equal opportunity: applications are welcome from all backgrounds.
