Description

The company is an IT consultancy headquartered in Irvine, California, that helps IT executives gain an edge through integration, automation, and innovation.

It has more than 1,200 employees across the United States, with field offices in Denver, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Lexington, Los Angeles, Louisville, Texas, and San Francisco.

Its culture resembles a startup while running on a scalable business base, giving staff room to grow their careers.

This role gives advanced technical support for unique client servers, storage, and networking hardware, on-site and remotely. You will lead assessments of escalated issues, judge independently how to fix them, and drive root cause analysis and resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex tier-two requests for HP, Dell, Lenovo, and Supermicro servers, and support storage and networking devices as well.
  • Meet with clients to understand their business needs, diagnose failures with approved management tools, and build tailored fix plans with deliverables and next steps.
  • Own escalated issues from assessment through remediation, running root cause analysis and driving the fix to completion.
  • Test and replace server components such as batteries, chassis backplanes, disks, fans, memory, processors, network cards, power supplies, RAID controllers, riser cards, and system boards.
  • Plan hardware work with pre-change checks, fault isolation, stakeholder coordination, and validation after repair.
  • Set up out-of-band controllers such as iLO, iDRAC, XCC, and BMC, including credentials, firmware, basic hardware settings, and bootable media for tools.
  • Keep the monthly on-site spare parts inventory, watch the warehouse for spares and stock them, and plan around parts that are unavailable.
  • Process RMA returns and track each item until it is closed.
  • Lead customer calls and remote sessions to gather details and explain findings, then coordinate dispatch, escalation, replacements, exchanges, or vendor fixes with customers, partners, and backline support.
  • Manage requests and escalations to meet contractual service-level agreements and technical standards, recording findings, actions, validation evidence, and as-built configurations in the ticket.
  • Write and maintain knowledge articles on supported products, support policies, best practices, service methods, and lessons from complex repairs.
  • Take on special projects such as new installs, decommissions, and related data center work.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, IT or systems, or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading root cause analysis and building custom resolution plans for server, storage, or networking hardware.
  • CompTIA and Linux certifications, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work alone and make significant calls on unusual client setups with little or no oversight.
  • Very detail-oriented, organized, and strong at troubleshooting.
  • Skilled at servicing and repairing all systems, including current, new, and updated ones.
  • Comfortable with online productivity tools such as ConnectWise Manage, WebEx, and ServiceNow.
  • Customer-focused and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to juggle several tasks while following company and customer standards.
  • Physical demands: you will often sit, stand, talk, and listen; read small print and screens with close vision and focus changes; stay alert with the stamina for daily work indoors; and handle moderate exertion with long periods of standing, frequent walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 200 pounds assisted. Clear hearing and speech in person and by phone are essential, and you must be able to walk up to 5 miles during a shift.

Conditions

This is a 100% onsite role.

Work is often done at client sites such as data centers, offices of all sizes, computer labs, and outdoor settings, with loud noise and changing temperatures common.

You must be available to work weekends and after hours.

Pay range is $74,000 - $85,000 USD. Actual pay depends on location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certifications, and business needs, and it may differ in other locations. Some roles may also earn bonuses or commissions beyond base salary.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with employer match, 529 college savings plan, health savings account, life insurance, and long-term disability.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Programs for training and growth.
  • Snacks and drinks at the larger offices.
  • A collaborative culture, a focus on work-life balance, and generous paid time off.
