Customer Engineer

Description

The company makes and services the materials science and engineering equipment used to produce nearly every new semiconductor chip and advanced display, including the chips behind AI and next-generation electronics.

You would join the team that installs, maintains and upgrades this equipment at customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside senior customer engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics to troubleshoot faults.
• Run basic diagnostics to find and fix technical problems, guided by senior engineers.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems. Training is provided.
• Communicate directly with customers to keep their operations running smoothly and deliver strong service.
• Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• An Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in customer or field service support, or a related technical field.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical problems.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Clear written and spoken communication.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport if travel is required.
• Ability to meet all on-site requirements, including safety, environmental and COVID-19 protocols.
• Preferred: 2 to 4 years of experience in customer or field service support, or a related technical field.
• Preferred: knowledge of CVD and/or Etch would be beneficial.

Conditions

Salary range: €51.200,00 - €70.400,00.

Location: Graz, Austria.

Full-time regular assignee role.

Travel: about 20% of the time.

Relocation assistance is available.

Pay depends on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity with current team members.

For sales roles, the posted range is the Target Total Cash range, which is base salary plus target bonus at 100% goal achievement.

The role often requires extensive walking, standing, working in tight spaces, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, working at height, and lifting up to 35 lbs.

The role involves working with electricity, using hand and power tools, and working in a noisy clean room wearing PPE such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.

You must be able to distinguish colors.
