Control System Technical Lead

Description

You will lead control system projects for the electric utility and industrial markets.

The role connects customers with the company's technical staff, taking each project from early design through to site commissioning.

The team sits within the company's grid automation business.

Responsibilities

• Run technical projects, lead customer kick-off meetings, and take each job from design through to commissioning.
• Join project risk reviews, track engineering man-days against budgets, and send regular progress updates.
• Study customer specifications, write project technical documents, and confirm solutions with customers.
• Choose software and IEDs, plan technical execution, and keep to the company's safety standards.
• Resolve technical deviations and fault reports, supporting site engineers remotely or on site.
• Lead Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests, and work with commissioning crews at key site milestones.
• Deliver project-specific training to customers, support tendering and commercial teams, and keep customers satisfied through well-run projects.

Requirements

• A BSc in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Over 5 years of control system experience.
• Solid knowledge of SCADA communication protocols, Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and database applications.
• Proven ability to design and program electrical control systems, covering SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, firewalls and similar.
• Preferred: proven knowledge of the company's substation automation solutions.
• Desired: in-depth knowledge of automation control systems, SCADA/DCS, and networking communication protocols.
• Desired: strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Desired: able to work independently, adapt to changing hours, and stay flexible in a demanding setting.
• Desired: clear verbal and written communication, with the ability to work across departments.

Conditions

Travel locally and globally, which requires a valid driver's license.
