Lead Project Manager

Description

The company is hiring a Lead Project Manager for ACS, FACTS and high-voltage substation work on grid projects in the Netherlands, based in Rijswijk.

The role leads the delivery of complex EPC turnkey projects and electrical packages, with a focus on safety, schedule, budget and quality.

You need strong experience in high-voltage substations or similar electrical infrastructure, fluent English, and a willingness to travel and work on site when needed. Dutch is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead EPC turnkey projects or electrical packages for high-voltage substations and switchgear.
• Control project scope, schedule, budget, quality and risk from start to finish.
• Make sure delivery follows company processes, contract terms and customer expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams within a matrix organisation.
• Build strong working relationships with customers and keep them at the centre of project execution.
• Use your electrical engineering knowledge to support planning, decisions and execution.
• Spot project risks, opportunities, issues and interfaces early, and manage them actively.
• Keep communication clear with customers, site teams, management and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure standards, regulations and quality requirements are met.
• Build a strong safety culture and embed Environment, Health and Safety requirements in project work.
• Help improve processes and deliver projects more efficiently.

Requirements

• Significant project management experience in electrical infrastructure, power systems, substations, or industrial or plant engineering.
• Experience with turnkey projects, ideally involving high-voltage substations, switchgear, ACS, FACTS or related grid infrastructure.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering with an electrical specialisation, power engineering or a comparable qualification.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and handle many interfaces at once.
• Experience managing technical, commercial and financial risk on complex projects.
• Fluent English.
• Dutch is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel and work on site as required.
• Nice to have: experience in transmission and distribution projects, power projects in the Netherlands or wider European market, or prior experience with the company.
• Nice to have: a project management certification such as PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2 or an equivalent.
• Nice to have: familiarity with project planning, reporting and execution tools.
• Nice to have: experience in the construction, installation, testing and commissioning phases of substation projects.

Conditions

Base location is Rijswijk, Netherlands.

Travel and site presence depend on project needs.

Short- or medium-term assignments at project locations may be part of the role.

You must be ready to travel internationally when business or project needs require it.
