This 9 month contract is for a senior project manager who owns delivery of projects that change business processes run on enterprise technology, such as ERP integrations, customer-facing and internal web platforms, laboratory and manufacturing system rollouts, and related data migration. Experience deploying Configure Price Quote (CPQ) software is ideal.
You represent the business and work alongside the IT Technical Delivery Lead, who owns the technical solution. You gather requirements and acceptance criteria from operations, commercial and quality teams, and stay accountable for results until adoption, not just go-live.
You work within the function's governance model and delivery framework, dealing daily with process owners, internal IT through the Technical Lead, site teams and suppliers. Decisions beyond project authority go up to the programme or PM&OE leadership. Most of the work spans the US and EMEA.
The company makes mission-critical genomics tools for molecular diagnostics, pharma and biotech, and agrigenomics customers. It has manufacturing sites in the US, UK, Germany and Denmark and is in a high-growth phase.
Responsibilities
Own delivery of business-led IT projects from requirements through build, testing, deployment, adoption and handover to live service.
Represent the business throughout, turning operational, commercial and quality needs into system requirements, and hold internal IT teams and suppliers to agreed outcomes.
Maintain the project plan, budget, risk and issue log and dependency list, track scope, cost, schedule and quality, and report through programme governance.
With the Technical Delivery Lead, run project-level integration work: interface specifications, master data alignment, data migration, cutover planning and reconciliation with process owners.
Lead web platform and application projects, covering requirements, user experience and accessibility, content and data ownership, and release planning.
With the Technical Delivery Lead, plan and run user acceptance testing: write test scripts, coordinate business testers, triage defects and gather evidence for go or no-go decisions.
Identify and engage stakeholders affected by the work, keeping sponsors aligned and resources committed to delivering business benefits.
Run change and adoption activity: impact assessments, process updates, training, cutover communications and post-implementation support.
Manage technology suppliers and development partners, covering scope, performance monitoring, change control and deliverable acceptance.
Make sure projects meet quality management system, computerised system validation, data integrity and information security requirements for a regulated life sciences setting.
Send concise, action-focused updates through PMO tools and steering committees.
Resolve day-to-day conflicts between business and IT, and escalate quickly to the Programme Manager or PM&OE leadership when a matter is outside project authority.
Coach Project Managers and business team members informally, and feed lessons learned into PM&OE frameworks, templates and reporting.
Requirements
Essential: a practitioner-level project management qualification, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant work experience.
Essential: a record of personally delivering complex IT system projects to agreed scope, cost, schedule and quality across multiple sites.
Essential: hands-on experience with ERP implementation or integration, including interface specifications, master data, data migration and cutover.
Essential: experience delivering web development projects, from requirements through iterative build with development teams to live release.
Essential: a proven ability to represent business interests in technology delivery, turning needs into system requirements and challenging technical proposals that fall short.
Essential: experience planning and running UAT, including test scripts, defect triage and go or no-go evidence.
Essential: experience with business change and adoption, including process updates, training and post-implementation support.
Essential: experience managing technology suppliers and development partners through to acceptance of deliverables.
Essential: enough technical literacy to challenge solutions involving application integration, interfaces, databases and data structures, without being a hands-on developer.
Essential: working knowledge of quality management systems, with experience delivering systems subject to computerised system validation, data integrity, and ISO or regulatory requirements.
Essential: practical planning skills, including project schedules, critical path analysis, budget tracking, and risk and issue management.
Essential: strong stakeholder management at working and site level, translating between technical and non-technical audiences and influencing without direct authority.
Desired: a degree in a scientific, engineering, business or computing discipline.
Desired: experience with a named ERP platform such as IFS, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics.
Desired: experience in diagnostics, genomics or wider life sciences, including laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Desired: working knowledge of agile delivery and experience in a hybrid agile and stage-gate environment.
Desired: a formal business analysis qualification, or a continuous improvement qualification such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Desired: experience working across US and EMEA time zones with cross-functional and supplier teams.
