Description

You will develop, improve and support CNC machining processes that produce precise parts in large volumes, bringing engineering depth in CAD/CAM programming, tooling selection and design, machine capability analysis and process improvement.

You will work with operators, supervisors and maintenance staff to solve difficult machining and equipment problems, bring in new technology, help launch new products, and keep processes aligned with quality, regulatory and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Write, refine and keep up CNC programs in CAD/CAM software.
  • Judge whether parts can be made by reviewing drawings, GD&T, materials and machine capability.
  • Set machining strategies, toolpaths and process parameters for first articles and ongoing production.
  • Design processes and make ongoing improvements to support scale-up.
  • Find, specify and source advanced tooling that improves accuracy, repeatability and tool life.
  • Commission new CNC machines so they are ready for production and meet process standards.
  • Run root cause analysis and work with maintenance to fix complex equipment and performance problems.
  • Review machining data to shorten cycle times, raise throughput and stabilise processes.
  • Help operators and leads with setups, batch changeovers and troubleshooting.
  • Lead efforts that improve quality, cut scrap and raise equipment efficiency.
  • Train operators on new processes, tooling, program changes and equipment.
  • Work with supervisors and other teams to tackle machining challenges and carry out engineering changes.
  • Support quality, regulatory and cost reduction goals.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in CNC programming and developing machining processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and critical tolerances.
  • Skill in machining calculations for speeds, feeds and precision measurement.
  • Knowledge of the mechanical and electrical systems in CNC machines.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as Partmaker, TB Deco, Esprit, NX and TeamCenter.
  • Understanding of M-codes, G-codes, toolpath development and machining optimisation.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and fix machining faults.
  • Ability to qualify first article parts and confirm a process can run as intended.
  • Skill in troubleshooting complex CNC machine performance issues.
  • AutoCAD experience is highly desired.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and electronic document systems.
  • Minimum: a 2-year technical degree in manufacturing technology, CNC machining, mechanical technology or a related field. Significant relevant experience may be considered in place of this degree.
  • Preferred: a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum: 4-6 years of hands-on work in high-precision, high-volume CNC manufacturing.
  • Strong background in CNC programming, process development and first article qualification.

Conditions

The base pay range is $34.70 - $42.40 per hour. This is an estimate that has not been adjusted for the local geographic differential where the role is filled.

Offers depend on factors such as location, skills, education, certifications, experience and performance, and it is not typical to hire at the top of the range.

Benefits

  • Total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, medical, dental and vision cover, a 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
