You would have real ownership of your work and sit alongside strong teammates.

This role is a CMM programmer and dimensional quality inspector in the Quality organization, supporting the making and assembly of precision mechanical parts and structures for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles.

You will program and run CMM inspections and also do hands-on dimensional inspection, confirming that mechanical parts and assemblies meet drawings, specifications and quality requirements at every production stage.

Responsibilities

  • Write, tune and run CMM inspection programs in PC-DMIS.
  • Build routines for complex geometry, GD&T callouts and tight tolerance features.
  • Set up and maintain programs for repeat production parts and first article inspections.
  • Handle CMM setup, probe calibration and fixture configuration.
  • Import CAD models and align them for programming and inspection.
  • Produce detailed inspection reports and look for trends in measurement data.
  • Inspect machined parts, sheet metal, hardware and mechanical assemblies during production and at final stage.
  • Take dimensions with calipers, micrometers, height gages and other precision tools.
  • Read engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Check workmanship, damage, cleanliness and configuration by eye.
  • Support first article inspections to AS9102.
  • Record nonconformances clearly and work with manufacturing and engineering to resolve them.
  • Keep inspection and acceptance records compliant with the quality management system.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection methods and defect reduction.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of experience programming in PC-DMIS and operating CMMs in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • Preferred: at least 5 years of PC-DMIS programming and CMM operation in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • Preferred: you can build, debug and refine CMM programs from engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Preferred: you have experience with probe qualification, fixture setup and CMM maintenance.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of inspecting mechanical or structural hardware with traditional tools.
  • Preferred: you read drawings and GD&T well, including advanced concepts.
  • Preferred: you have used calipers, micrometers, height gages and similar tools.
  • Preferred: you know mechanical workmanship standards and assembly practices.
  • Preferred: you are detail-focused and analytical.
  • Preferred: you have a basic grasp of statistical analysis and measurement uncertainty.
  • Preferred: you have worked on several CMM types, such as bridge, horizontal arm or portable.
  • Preferred: you have used other metrology software such as Polyworks or Calypso.
  • Preferred: you have programmed inspection of complex aerospace parts such as turbine blades, airfoils or castings.
  • Preferred: you know scanning and point cloud inspection methods.
  • Preferred: you have supported R&D and early-stage production programs.
  • Preferred: you have inspected flight or mission-critical hardware.
  • Preferred: you work efficiently in a fast manufacturing setting.
  • Preferred: you communicate clearly in writing and speech.
  • Preferred: you work well with machinists, assemblers, engineers and quality staff.
  • Preferred: you can handle shifting priorities without losing inspection accuracy.
  • Preferred: you are comfortable with digital quality systems and inspection documentation.
  • Preferred: you have mentored or trained junior inspectors.
