Description

The company is hiring a Chief Engineer for the HADES program, which is building prototype and operational satellite ground systems, satellite operations centers (SOCs), and full engineering and support services.

Your team will own engineering, development, integration, and sustainment of the ground-system infrastructure that supports high-tempo space operations.

Most of the work takes place at the RDT&E Support Complex (RSC) at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

As lead technical authority, you set the technical baseline, keep engineering rigorous and compliant across Ground Control, Ground Support, Jaguar, and hybrid cloud mission systems, and drive engineering execution and performance across multi-mission ground architectures.

This position depends on contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead technical authority for architecture, engineering execution, technical baselines, and systems integration across every HADES PWS element.
  • Lead technical work across development, integration, verification and validation, cybersecurity alignment, and sustainment engineering.
  • Write and keep current the Systems Engineering Management Plan, covering SE processes, roles, verification and validation approach, metrics, tools, and workflows.
  • Work with internal and external mission partners to deliver integrated, modernized ground capabilities that are ready for missions.
  • Guide engineering teams so disciplined systems engineering runs through development and sustainment.
  • Direct engineering solutions, modernization, and integration across heterogeneous ground systems and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Identify technical risks, plan mitigations, and run engineering assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee software sustainment, cloud modernization, DevSecOps integration, and compatibility with mission partner systems.
  • Coordinate technical work across Ground Control, Ground Support, Jaguar, IDIQ task orders, and external mission partners.
  • Direct integration, testing, verification, and validation to keep missions ready.
  • Support cybersecurity alignment with cybersecurity leads and accreditation authorities.
  • Make sure all work follows structured engineering processes that support mission assurance and system availability.

Requirements

  • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Have extensive engineering experience on DoD ground systems, hybrid cloud C2 architectures, space mission systems, or system of systems environments.
  • Bring 10+ years of experience leading systems engineering, integration, software development, cloud modernization, or ground architecture programs.
  • Know system availability requirements, sustainment engineering, software and hardware integration, and multi-mission ground architectures in depth.
  • Have shown you can lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate technical work in complex mission settings.
  • Have produced SE artifacts such as SEMP, architecture documentation, verification plans, and performance metrics.
  • Desired: advanced engineering certifications or education in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, or related fields.
  • Desired: experience with DevSecOps, cloud native architectures, mission system modernization, and cross-domain integrations.
  • Desired: familiarity with SSC/SYD89 mission environments, RSC operations, or hybrid cloud ground systems.
  • Desired: prior success as chief engineer or technical authority on large-scale ground system programs.

Conditions

TS/SCI with polygraph is the minimum clearance needed to start.

Full-time, regular position with travel up to 10% within the continental US.

Pay depends on factors including location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.

Proposed salary range: $108,900 to $239,500.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and learning and development opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefits covering healthcare, wellness, financial, retirement, family support, continuing education, and time off.
  • Flexible time off you can take when you need it.
  • Access to robust learning resources to support your career goals.
  • Flexibility to balance quality work with your personal life.
