Senior Software Development Engineer (Java)

Description

The team builds the cloud platform for electronics design, Altium 365, which lets design engineers communicate, collaborate and get ideas to market.

The company is a global software firm and part of the Renesas Group, headquartered in San Diego, California.

The role sits in the R&D Software Engineering team on Altium 365 and focuses on complex cloud applications.

Possible R&D work includes cloud-native applications, scalable infrastructure, AI and ML for advanced search, large-scale data processing, data modeling and intent-based API design, stateful and stateless services, relational databases and ORM frameworks.

You would have room to propose and build new features for electronics engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build complex cloud applications as a senior backend engineer on the R&D team.
• Work with Java, AWS, multi-tenant architecture and distributed high-load systems.
• Tackle technical problems where software, electronics and cloud services meet.
• Work with product managers, architects and engineers to deliver reliable, scalable features.
• Help make technical decisions, review code and drive continuous improvement within the team.
• Share knowledge and help raise the team's engineering standards.

Requirements

• You have worked with relational databases, preferably MySQL.
• You are familiar with CI/CD, Git, Docker and Kubernetes.
• You have worked with distributed systems and production cloud environments.
• You have experience with.NET.
• You have modernized or integrated complex enterprise applications.
• You know high-load systems, performance tuning or cloud observability.
• You have experience with the Firebird database.
