The Security and Risk Engineering group builds scalable, AI-powered security products that lower risk for the company and its customers.
The team favors AI-first design, clean architecture, intuitive user experiences, and steady improvement.
Security is a strategic growth area for the company, and engineers here shape the innovation, quality, and reliability of its security and risk products.
Responsibilities
Set the technical vision and architecture for AI-native security solutions, using frontier models, agentic AI, reasoning, retrieval, knowledge systems, and advanced ML.
Apply new AI capabilities to cybersecurity problems in fundamentally different ways, rather than just adding AI to existing products.
Define architecture and engineering standards that make systems more scalable, reliable, performant, and maintainable.
Work with Product, UX, security researchers, customers, and engineering leaders to find high-value problems and turn them into differentiated product experiences.
Lead AI-native engineering practices, including heavy use of AI coding agents and autonomous development, testing, evaluation, and operations workflows.
Present the team's technology and direction to executives, customers, partners, and the wider engineering organization.
Mentor senior engineers and raise the engineering bar through coaching and technical leadership.
Requirements
15+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial technical and engineering leadership.
Proven experience designing and shipping AI/ML products and platforms in production.
Strong backend experience with distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
Proven ability to design systems that handle enterprise-scale workloads.
Hands-on experience with modern AI development technologies, such as frontier LLMs, agent frameworks, retrieval and vector technologies, and model evaluation and observability.
Extensive use of AI-native development tools and coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, or equivalent in the development lifecycle.
Experience leading technical work across multiple teams without direct authority over them.
Kubernetes experience with cloud platforms is required, along with modern DevOps practices.
Experience with cybersecurity products or deep familiarity with modern security architectures and security operations is strongly preferred.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Deep expertise in modern AI/ML, including production AI systems built with LLMs, foundation models, agentic architectures, RAG, embeddings, knowledge retrieval, and model evaluation.
Solid grounding in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, data systems, and APIs, with the ability to go deep into both architecture and code.
Experience building highly performant, scalable distributed systems.
Experience with threat detection, vulnerability and exposure management, security operations, identity security, investigation, risk prioritization, or autonomous remediation is strongly preferred.
Strong Python skills and experience with modern AI frameworks and infrastructure. Experience with Java, Go, or similar languages is valuable.
Required skills include React, Node.js, Python, Java, REST, GraphQL, SQL, AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes. These are also listed for the Software Development Engineer role and apply to this one too.
Strong understanding of agentic architectures, including planning and reasoning, tool use, context and memory, multi-agent systems, evaluation, observability, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
An innovative mindset: you challenge conventional approaches, spot opportunities created by fast-moving AI, and turn ambitious ideas into working products.
Comfort working with ambiguity while balancing rapid experimentation against the rigor enterprise security products demand.
Strong product sense and the ability to link technology innovation to customer problems, differentiated experiences, and business outcomes.
Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to explain a technical vision to engineers, customers, and senior leadership.
