Description

The company builds software that large brands use to improve frontline customer experiences, build strong teams, and design products. It helped create the Experience Management category and serves thousands of clients worldwide. Its more than 5,000 people across the globe work across retail, government, and healthcare.

The Platform Infrastructure team builds and runs the core software that other engineering teams depend on to operate their services. The team runs EKS and supports engineering teams across the company, with PGF as an exception until it is brought onto the platform.

The team is small and close-knit, sets ambitious targets, and acts quickly. Hard problems get solved together, with ideas tested and refined until the best answer appears. Growth comes from the work itself: you will build deeper expertise in container orchestration, gain experience driving efficiency at scale across the platform, and build services for every engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Help make platform workloads cheaper to run by building tooling and frameworks that let teams track and tune CPU and memory use.
  • Build services in Go that serve engineering teams across the company.
  • Create, deploy, and run services that keep the platform above its targets for availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Shape how engineers run containerized workloads and how the platform handles Kubernetes orchestration as its needs change.
  • Design the services and best practices for service discovery across all of engineering.
  • Influence how engineers run their applications through strong tooling and services.
  • Take part in periodic on-call duty as part of a global team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale software systems.
  • Experience with professional engineering practices such as unit testing, code reviews, and design documents.
  • Experience with high-level languages such as Go and scripting in Bash.
  • Experience building software or systems that serve multiple teams or the entire company.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, ideally EKS, including workload and resource management, nodepool management, and policy enforcement.
  • Skill at debugging applications in a Linux environment.
  • Deep knowledge of open source tools and technologies, including Linux systems.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with other platform teams, AWS counterparts, and security and compliance teams.
  • A design approach that considers scalability in both technical measures and organizational processes.
  • A customer-first attitude when working with application teams.
  • Systems engineering backgrounds are welcome when paired with production software development experience. A background focused entirely on Linux or system administration is not the target profile.

Conditions

Work in the office three days a week: Mondays, Thursdays, and one day chosen by your organizational leader. Work from wherever you like on the other days.

The team works closely with AWS, aligning with AWS technical account managers on their roadmap for enterprise container orchestration features.

Workloads run at very large scale, with services supporting thousands of hosts across regions worldwide.

The team works alongside other internal platform, infrastructure, and developer experience teams, holding a high bar, discussing openly, and running rigorous design reviews.

Full-time base pay is $147,000 - $178,500 USD per year for Washington State. Actual pay depends on location, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be included in an offer.

US applicants have rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, and the Employee Polygraph Protection Act.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, 401(k) with match, paid time off, a wellness reimbursement, and mental health benefits for full-time employees.
  • An office with amenities, food, drinks, outdoor space, and pinball.
  • Quarterly team offsites to get to know colleagues outside the office.
  • An education budget you can spend on topics that interest you.
  • The QED (the company Engineer Development) Program, which lets engineers spend up to 10% of their time each quarter on career development.
  • A detailed overview of US benefits is available on the company's benefits page.
