Description

Based in Barcelona, Spain, this role sits in the OneMesh Platform team of the company's Digital Data Team, which is moving the company toward being AI-first.

You will build the software and application layer that gives people across the company access to data and AI.

The team is creating next-generation data and AI platform services, including internal developer tools, data platform interfaces, AI-powered applications and governance tooling.

The products are deployed globally and aim to reach many patients. The company is a global biopharmaceutical business active in around 100 countries, focused on human health and vaccines.

Responsibilities

  • Build full-stack applications and platform services across the OneMesh ecosystem with React, TypeScript, Node.js and Python (FastAPI), covering data platform UIs, internal developer tools, AI applications and operational dashboards.
  • Design and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs that let internal teams find, manage and use data and AI capabilities, fitting cleanly into wider the company digital products.
  • Implement LLM API usage, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration and evaluation frameworks, and turn them into reusable platform components other teams can adopt.
  • Deploy and run cloud-native applications on OpenShift (Kubernetes) and AWS using GitOps practices, and write infrastructure-as-code in Terraform.
  • Add security controls, audit logging, health checks, metrics dashboards and alerts so platform services stay reliable, easy to debug and operationally sound.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable, automated delivery, and take part in code reviews, architecture discussions and engineering standards.
  • Work with data engineers, ML practitioners, product teams and business stakeholders to turn platform capabilities into polished, easy-to-use features.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A proven record of building software products, backend systems, platform services or cloud-native applications.
  • Being a strong plus: experience in internal platform teams, product engineering or data-driven application development.
  • Strong command of Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Python (FastAPI), Terraform, React, Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Being a meaningful advantage: familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, RDS, Bedrock), Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redis, message brokering, GitHub Actions CI/CD, and GenAI or LLM application patterns.
  • A versatile, adaptable approach with strong ownership and a service-minded attitude. You can handle several products at once and do well in ambiguous, fast-moving settings.
  • Excellent English communication, including explaining complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders, and enjoyment of working with diverse cross-functional teams.

Conditions

The role is hybrid, combining remote flexibility with office-based collaboration in Barcelona.

Pay falls between €49.600,00 and €74.400,00.

Final pay depends on demonstrated experience, skills, location and other relevant factors.

Equal opportunities are offered to all regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, ability or gender identity.

Benefits

  • Mentorship and training from experienced leaders and academics in machine learning, data and software engineering.
  • Career paths through promotions, lateral moves and international assignments.
  • Possible eligibility for the company's employee benefit programs.
