Description

The company is hiring an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead for its Eastern Regional Electronics and Payload Organization, supporting the Intelligence Systems Division in Linthicum, MD.

The role centres on developing key technologies and shaping solutions for space intelligence systems, and on helping build strategies to win and deliver future development programs.

You will lead a cross-discipline engineering team, typically 5-25 people, and work with engineering, program management, manufacturing, supply chain, systems, software and mission assurance.

The company values curiosity, varied perspectives and people who want to build the future, and it has a long record of technical firsts.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the technical work across all engineering on a program, from design and development through implementation, testing and delivery to the customer.
  • Fold the overall technical plan into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and control engineering scope, including changes that fall inside or outside the project baseline.
  • Own the quality, technical, budget and schedule outcomes for the program's engineering work, including CAM responsibilities.
  • Make sure the program follows sound engineering processes across development, production, test and sustainment, in line with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Make critical technical decisions with a structured approach under E250-MSO, Structured Decision Making.
  • Lead process development, continuous improvement and affordability work across your programs.
  • Chair the Technical Review Board.
  • Act as the engineering team's link with program management, manufacturing, operations, customers and other functions, and make sure the statement of work and technical requirements are met.
  • Work with all Product Team Leads to resolve engineering conflicts and solve complex technical problems with highly innovative, achievable solutions.
  • Work with engineering functional management to make sure standard tools and development environments are used where the contract scope calls for them.
  • Collect and supply the engineering performance data needed for company SP program reporting, such as IPRS.
  • Support the program manager by identifying and owning risks to system performance, and help manage risks and opportunities.
  • Find and add reusable technologies and design products for current and future space programs.
  • Lead the development of innovative payload concepts and architectures for proposals and pursuits, applying new principles and theories where they fit.
  • Report technical status and assessments to the program management office, and help assess cost and schedule impacts of technical decisions or customer requests.
  • Learn the business's existing technologies and track emerging ones for the product portfolio.

Requirements

  • Have managed across system, software and hardware teams as an Engineering Program Manager, or as an IPT lead, on an NRE development program.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM field with 14 or more years of experience, or 12 years of experience with a master's degree and 9 years with a Ph.D.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, both in person and in writing and presentations.
  • Bring domain expertise in defense electronic systems.
  • Have worked with or been exposed to supply chain, manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Be familiar with the hardware design process for mission systems or space systems.
  • Have taken part in business capture and proposal work.
  • Understand DoD systems engineering requirements in depth.
  • Have experience in systems development, integration and test.
  • Have led products across several engineering areas, such as RF, electrical, digital, power, mechanical, antenna and embedded processing.
  • Be a US citizen.
  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance when you apply, and be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Preferred: Hold a master's degree in a STEM field or technical management.
  • Preferred: Have submitted fixed-price contract proposals.
  • Preferred: Have served as a subject matter expert, technical lead, IPT lead or in another engineering leadership role in a program office, where you built teams and showed organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Have worked on Agile hardware programs.
  • Preferred: Have directly managed or led engineering teams.
  • Preferred: Have supported product line development and technical roadmaps.
  • Preferred: Understand the design, manufacturing and test process well.
