AWS Solution Architect

Description

The company is hiring an AWS Solution Architect to design, build and support cloud solutions for government and company customers.

This is a full-time, regular role. The job title is AWS Solution Architect and it falls under Information Technology.

You will need a Secret clearance at minimum before you start.

Candidates must live within commuting distance of the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. or the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Responsibilities

• Talk with customers and stakeholders to pin down needs, then design scalable AWS cloud solutions that fit them.
• Design and build AWS cloud architectures, covering infrastructure as code, network design and security controls.
• Build and maintain cloud solutions on AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS and IAM.
• Help customers move applications and infrastructure to AWS, modernize them and troubleshoot their AWS environments, while meeting security and compliance standards.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that make use of AWS services and best practices.
• Teach stakeholders AWS best practices and guide them on how to adopt cloud.
• Write documentation and prepare reports, including data and metrics for stakeholders, customers and company leadership.
• Take on other duties assigned in support of contract tasks and mission goals.

Requirements

• You must hold an active DOD Secret security clearance.
• You need an AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• You need at least 1 year of experience in cloud architecture and AWS services.
• You have experience with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform, and with scripting in Python or Bash.
• You are proficient with AWS and related cloud technologies.
• You bring a customer service mindset and strong written and verbal communication skills, and you can engage internal and external contacts at every level to reach good outcomes.
• You stay organized while juggling competing priorities, several concurrent taskings and firm deadlines.
• You are proficient with Microsoft 365.
• Desired: a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Desired: experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in AWS environments.
• Desired: familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures and integration with on-premises systems.
• Desired: work experience with the Naval Maintenance Community, the United States Navy or the Department of Defense.

Conditions

Your base pay depends on factors such as geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior relevant experience, specific skills, education and certifications.

The role can be performed from more than one location, so the salary range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range is $82,100-$172,400.

Travel is up to 10% of the time and is local.

Your primary work site is your home site, with occasional work at a customer site or a company office.
