AVP Full Stack Java/Angular Developer

Description

This is a full-time intermediate management role in Applications Development. You will lead a team that sets up and delivers new or revised application systems and programs, working with the Technology team.

Your main goal is to lead systems analysis and programming work across the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Applications Development staff toward set goals, and handle personnel matters such as performance reviews, training, hiring and disciplinary action.
• Advise and coach mid-level developers and analysts.
• Set up how technical issues are escalated, and decide which ones are fixed first.
• Provide technical oversight across systems and applications, drawing on skills from the wider Applications Development area.
• Map how internal and external departments depend on each other, across products and projects.
• Resolve problems using deep knowledge of applications development concepts and procedures.
• Analyse complex issues, review business processes, system processes and industry standards, and make sound judgement calls.
• Help with planning, budget management, procedure design and resource planning, including negotiating with outside parties when needed.
• Assess risk in business decisions with the firm's reputation, clients and assets in mind. Drive compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policy, act ethically, escalate and report control issues openly, and hold people accountable for these standards.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• A track record of running projects to a successful finish.
• Ability to take ownership of technical decisions on software development projects.
• Experience with dependency management, change management, continuous integration testing tools and audit or compliance requirements.
• Deep knowledge of software engineering and object-oriented design.
• Proven leadership and management skills.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication.
• Strong in either backend or UI technologies.
• Backend: very strong Java and Spring Boot development skills.
• Backend: experience with caching solutions such as Apache Ignite or Gemfire is a must.
• Backend: experience with middleware messaging such as JMS, MQ, EMS or Kafka.
• Backend: knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Grafana Tempo and Elastic Observability tools is a must.
• Backend: cloud experience with microservices and containerization is a big plus.
• UI: very strong skills in Angular 15+, React and NodeJS are a must.
• UI: expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, the object model and TypeScript is necessary.
• UI: experience with UI data streaming over web sockets or another streaming solution is a plus.
• UI: experience with C,.NET Frameworks and the DevExpress grid is a plus.
• UI: experience with UI testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha or Jasmine is desirable.
• Common: moderate knowledge of RDBMS concepts and experience with Oracle, Sybase or MS SQL.
• Common: solid experience with CI/CD tools, Agile development and the software life cycle.
• Common: experience with Python, generative AI tools or machine learning is a definite plus.
• Common: scripting skills on Unix or Linux.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.

Conditions

Full-time role in the Applications Development job family, within Technology.

Salary range: $94,300.00 to $141,500.00.
