Description

The company makes thermal management and mission-critical building systems and works on energy efficiency and decarbonization. Its customers include data centers, healthcare, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing and higher education sites.

The company has operated for over 140 years and pairs its technology with lifecycle services and a large field organization.

The fire protection and building solutions group helps customers protect people, property and operations. This role supports the profitable delivery of small-dollar Fire Systems installation projects, from early planning through closeout.

You report under general direction from the Installation/Operations Manager and/or Project Manager. The job blends field leadership, customer coordination, financial control, document management and safety oversight so that projects finish accurately, on time, within budget and within scope.

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver assigned small-dollar Fire Systems Install projects for business customers at a profit.
  • Keep execution matched to the contract by directing engineers, designers, technicians, project coordinators, estimators and subcontractors.
  • Control scope, costs, resources, schedules and risks, and manage billing and collections to keep cash flow positive and delivery on time.
  • Pursue change orders and added work whenever client instructions, field directives or schedule changes alter the contracted scope.
  • Review contract terms, prepare cost estimates and proposals, and support customer sign-off where needed.
  • Work early with operations leaders and other teams to shape strategy, choose vendors and partners, refine scope, value engineer and assess risk.
  • Oversee document controls, construction compliance and material orders against specifications, local codes, installation methods and company standards.
  • Submit plan checks to Authorities Having Jurisdiction, track their approvals and obtain permits promptly once approved.
  • Prepare RFPs, RFIs and subcontracts, and handle project accounts payable, billing and collections.
  • Build relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors, and attend job progress meetings to resolve issues.
  • Take ownership of safety, ethics, scope, schedule, cost and quality on every project.
  • Review field conditions, contract changes and customer instructions early, and remove obstacles before they affect delivery.
  • Use clear project controls, financial tracking and recovery plans to deal with risk before it grows.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, engineering, design, subcontractors, vendors and customers to keep work moving.
  • Share project progress, issues and financial status promptly with management and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • An associate degree plus equivalent work experience, or at least five years of hands-on field experience in building construction.
  • Working knowledge of project management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Hands-on use of MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Writer and Visio, plus basic Windows skills.
  • Able to explain technical content clearly to both technical and non-technical listeners, using words and non-verbal cues.
  • Able to juggle several project priorities, schedules, billing tasks and customer expectations at once.
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management or architecture.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Travel may be required depending on project assignments and needs.
