What you’ll be doing...

As Associate Director – Solutions Architect, you will execute a strategic vision for enterprise technology enablement, acting as the driving force behind internal process transformation. You will build and scale a Platform as a Service (PaaS) infrastructure, championing a corporate DevSecOps culture that unites development, operations, and security. Acting as a strategic bridge between technical engineering and executive leadership, you will empower internal teams to innovate through centralized Citizen Development programs, automated tooling, and secure cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Citizen Development & PaaS Strategy: Lead the design and execution of a Platform as a Service (PaaS) computing infrastructure built on Verizon Private Cloud VMs (VCP VMs), providing a secure, scalable, and self-service ecosystem tailored for the internal Citizen Developer community.
  • Corporate DevOps & CI/CD Leadership: Standardize enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines across a complex corporate environment. Manage container and package registries (OneArtifactory) and embed "secure-by-design" principles using automated SAST and SCA security testing.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & SRE: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to deploy, manage, and scale applications across VCP VMs, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and OpenStack. Establish real-time SRE monitoring and lead "Fail Fast, Fail Small" Chaos Engineering game days.
  • Executive Communication & Agile Transformation: Serve as a strategic liaison, translating complex technical architectures into actionable business value for C-suite and senior executive leaders. Manage cross-functional projects using Agile practices to eliminate legacy silos and drive adoption of new platforms.
  • You’ll need to have...
  • Education & General Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or 4+ years of work/military experience) with 8+ years of relevant technical experience in enterprise IT, DevOps, or Solutions Architecture.
  • Strategic & Technical Leadership: 6+ years in an architectural or engineering leadership role with end-to-end delivery accountability. Proven track record of executing strategic technology initiatives, specifically standing up PaaS environments or enterprise development platforms.
  • Executive Communication & Presentation: 5+ years of experience translating technical roadmaps, system designs, and infrastructure proposals into clear, compelling presentations for executive stakeholders.
  • Frameworks & Business Acumen: Deep understanding of corporate DevOps governance, TOGAF/ITIL standards, and the financial acumen (P&L, ROI, business cases) required to justify enterprise infrastructure investments.
  • Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Even Better If You Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Active industry certifications in Cloud Architecture (GCP, AWS, Azure), DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, or foundational networking (Cisco CCNA/CCNP).
  • If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
