Description

The company builds digital measurement products that rely on AI and machine learning algorithms, and this role sets the technical direction for them.

You will be the senior technical expert on algorithm design, development, implementation and technical quality, and you will judge which modelling approaches fit the scientific and engineering needs.

The work turns measurement requirements into dependable computational solutions using machine learning, signal processing and statistical modelling on data from wearables, mobile devices, physiological sensors, behavioural sources and other multimodal inputs.

Solutions must be scalable, scientifically rigorous, reproducible and ready for production.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary technical authority for AI/ML algorithms and computational biomarkers across the digital measurement platform.
  • Design, build, implement and tune algorithms that convert multimodal sensor, wearable, mobile and behavioural data into reliable digital measurements and computational biomarkers.
  • Lead the architecture of advanced approaches such as deep learning, representation learning, personalisation and other new AI/ML methods.
  • Improve algorithm performance, reliability, scalability and efficiency on large multimodal datasets, including wearable, mobile, physiological, behavioural and contextual data.
  • Assess alternative modelling approaches, recommend methods and explain their scientific and technical trade-offs.
  • Set and uphold standards for algorithm development, reproducibility, validation, documentation and technical quality.
  • Lead and mentor scientists and ML engineers on hard modelling problems, system design choices and advanced methods.
  • Work with platform and engineering teams so algorithms are production-ready, scalable, maintainable and well integrated into enterprise measurement and analytics platforms.
  • Help develop and validate new computational biomarker methods and digital measurement capabilities.
  • Represent the company through publications, technology reviews, industry discussions and external research collaborations on AI/ML, computational biomarkers and digital measurement.

Requirements

  • PhD in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, electrical or biomedical engineering, applied mathematics or a closely related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years in AI/ML, computational biomarker development, signal processing or data-driven health technology.
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning, statistical modelling, time-series analysis, signal processing and multimodal data integration.
  • A track record of taking scientifically rigorous, reproducible, production-ready AI/ML solutions from research to deployment.
  • Experience improving performance, reliability and efficiency on large multimodal datasets such as wearable, mobile, physiological, behavioural or contextual data.
  • Experience working with software engineering, platform and MLOps teams to deliver production AI/ML solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor scientists and engineers on complex modelling, algorithm design and system architecture.
  • Clear communication of advanced technical concepts and modelling trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong publication record and recognised expertise in applied AI/ML, computational modelling or digital health are a plus.
  • Experience with healthcare, biosignals, wearable devices, digital biomarkers or regulated environments is a strong advantage.

Conditions

The potential base pay range, annualised, is €52,500.00 to €89,300.00.

Actual base pay depends on qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education and experience, location, and whether the role is full or part-time.

Incentive plans, bonuses or other compensation may be offered depending on the position, along with health, welfare and other benefits.

Equal opportunity applies to all candidates.

Benefits

  • Incentive plans, bonuses and other forms of compensation may be offered, along with a range of health and welfare benefits.
