Description

This Vice President level lead role sits in the applications development group and works closely with the technology team. You will build new application systems and programs, or revise existing ones, and direct the analysis and programming work behind them.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, technology risk work, and application and model development to meet specific business and user needs.
  • Oversee every stage of delivery, from analysis and design through build, testing and rollout, and give business users continued support on the applications.
  • Apply deep applications development expertise to hard problems, judge business and system processes against industry standards, and make sound evaluations.
  • Design security controls and review how systems are used after launch to confirm they work as intended.
  • Advise users, clients and other technology teams on problems, propose advanced programming options, and install and help run customer exposure systems.
  • Make sure key procedures are followed and help set operating standards and processes.
  • Mentor newer and junior analysts.
  • Work with limited direct supervision and use independent judgment.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members.
  • Assess risk in business decisions with close attention to the firm's reputation and to protecting the company, its clients and its assets. Drive compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policy, use sound ethical judgment in conduct and business practice, and escalate, manage and report control issues openly.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of hands-on work with the Spring ecosystem (Spring Framework, Spring Boot) building scalable microservices.
  • 6-10 years designing, building and tuning applications on relational (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases.
  • 6-10 years of hands-on ReactJS UI/UX development, building highly responsive frontends end-to-end.
  • 5+ years architecting and implementing data processing on Big Data platforms such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.
  • 5+ years implementing enterprise messaging (for example JMS, Tibco or Kafka) and a solid grasp of distributed architecture.
  • 2+ years using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Devin AI to improve coding efficiency and speed up delivery.
  • Strong grasp of data lineage, data flow mapping and metadata management to keep data accurate and traceable across enterprise systems.
  • Hands-on experience deploying containerized apps with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS (OpenShift preferred), and running CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket and Maven/Gradle.
  • Optional, a plus: hands-on experience designing, scheduling and monitoring complex data pipelines with Apache Airflow.
  • Optional, a strong plus: exposure to BI analytics tools such as Tableau or Cognos.
  • Optional, a strong plus: prior domain knowledge in credit risk technology, financial risk management systems or regulatory reporting frameworks.
  • Proven skill in solving complex technical problems through cross-functional work, rigorous research and testing, and negotiating solutions.
  • Track record of handling several competing priorities daily in a high-pressure, global setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, including explaining complex technical ideas to varied audiences.
