Description

You will lead the technical design and delivery of mission-critical systems as a senior architect with 6+ years of experience.

You make architecture decisions, raise engineering standards, coach senior engineers, and work with product, security and platform teams to build scalable, reliable and secure distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set out and evolve cloud-native architecture built on microservices and event-driven designs, weighing scalability, resilience, security and cost.
  • Produce high-level and low-level designs, integration patterns, API contracts and reference implementations.
  • Run design reviews and keep work aligned with domain-driven design, 12-factor principles and company standards.
  • Guide squads through the whole software lifecycle, from discovery and proofs of concept to production and handoff to SRE.
  • Set coding standards, code review practice and secure-by-default patterns.
  • Mentor senior engineers and help them grow into technical leadership roles.
  • Build core services in Java 17+ with Spring Boot, REST or GraphQL, and message or event streaming.
  • Tune for performance, concurrency and observability, and meet operational goals such as SLOs and error budgets.
  • Drive quality through unit, integration and contract tests, a test data strategy and automated quality gates.
  • Design for AWS, Azure or GCP using Kubernetes, service mesh and CI/CD, and apply infrastructure-as-code and secrets management.
  • Work with SRE and platform teams on monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing and cost control.
  • Design integrations across SQL and NoSQL stores, Redis caching and Kafka or Pulsar event streams.
  • Define data contracts, schema evolution and idempotent, eventually consistent patterns.
  • Build application security into designs, including OWASP controls, OAuth2/OIDC authentication and zero trust.
  • Keep systems compliant with regulatory and audit requirements where they apply.
  • Turn business needs into technical roadmaps and architecture runway.
  • Explain trade-offs and decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • 6+ years building enterprise systems, including 6+ years working in Java and Spring at scale.
  • Track record of delivering cloud-native, microservices and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong skills in Java 11/17+, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
  • Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, and gRPC (nice-to-have).
  • Hands-on work with Kafka or Pulsar, Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle, and with MongoDB, Cassandra or DynamoDB.
  • Use of Redis caching, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Jenkins) and IaC (Terraform or ARM).
  • Working knowledge of observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana or ELK, plus feature flags and progressive delivery.
  • Solid understanding of concurrency, performance tuning, resiliency patterns (circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads) and fault tolerance.
  • Proven record of leading architecture forums, design reviews and mentoring.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of MCP, A2A and agentic architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Nice-to-have: domain experience in payments, banking, capital markets, insurance, e-commerce, supply chain or telecom.
  • Nice-to-have: threat modeling, shift-left security, SAST/DAST, secrets rotation and mTLS.
  • Nice-to-have: CDC (Debezium), schema registry, exactly-once semantics and streaming ETL.
  • Nice-to-have: service mesh (Istio or Linkerd), API gateways (Kong or Apigee) and serverless (Lambda or Functions).
  • Nice-to-have: CQRS, event sourcing, Saga orchestration and hexagonal architecture.
