Lead Business Intelligence and Analytics Solution Engineer

You will join the business technology solutions team, an inclusive and collaborative group inside a large biopharma company.

This is a senior business intelligence and analytics engineering role focused on digital transformation, building solutions that benefit patients and their communities.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain working relationships with business stakeholders and clients, communicating clearly and leading complex analytics projects with business and cross-functional teams.
• Apply current best practice in business intelligence, with solid skills in data modeling, dimensional modeling and data warehousing.
• Give the business actionable insights by finding trends, patterns, anomalies, outliers and correlations that support better decisions.
• Design and build clear, intuitive data visualizations that communicate findings effectively.
• Turn business requirements into mockups and curate data to define reporting needs.
• Create semantic models with complex logical attributes and KPI measures that follow metric governance standards.
• Set and follow BI and analytics practices covering peer review, code review, documentation, coding standards, data quality, reproducibility and compliance.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert on the BI platform and run the self-service center of excellence, including office hours training.
• Set up data and metric governance for curated datasets and metrics.
• Design and implement technology solutions by gathering information needs, talking with users, studying systems flow, data usage and work processes, and resolving project hurdles and assumptions with available information and technical expertise.
• Work across design, development, programming, data integration, warehousing, analysis, visualization, storage, networking and cloud or virtualized environments.
• As lead engineer, mentor junior team members on BI solution architecture and manage several projects at once, prioritizing time efficiently.
• Manage the requirements lifecycle, create epics and stories in Jira and Confluence, handle change management, run functional testing, and coordinate user acceptance testing and training.
• Tools you will use: advanced SQL; BI and data visualization or discovery tools such as Power BI and Tableau; data prep tools such as Dataiku, or alternatives like Alteryx or Tableau Data Prep; Python or R; the Snowflake cloud data warehouse; Jira, Confluence and Agile methodology.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a PhD plus 2 years of experience.
• Experience gathering requirements, writing functional and technical documentation, engaging stakeholders, running user training and building a community of power users.
• Ability to work with business and cross-functional teams on complex analytics projects, and to work autonomously with minimal direction.
• Experience in BI and analytics architecture, dimensional modeling, data products, visualization, data discovery, curated datasets, insight generation and advanced analytics.
• Hands-on experience writing complex SQL.
• Hands-on experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including stored procedures and dynamic tables.
• Hands-on experience with data prep tools such as Dataiku, dbt or Alteryx.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD using dbt, Azure Repos and Git.
• Experience in Python.

Conditions

For locations with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law, the posted base pay range is the company's good-faith expectation for this grade at the time of posting. Actual pay depends on factors such as geographic location and may fall above or below the range, and the range may change.

This role is eligible for short-term incentive programs.
