The company supplies drug and medical device data used by thousands of hospitals, most U.S. health plans, retail pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers and health care decision-makers around the world.
You will work with the company's information system developers and healthcare institution customers to turn new ideas into working systems that support better patient health.
The role covers the medical device database and its data management system, with a focus on reliability, scalability and data integrity. Your work spans the database, the system's user interface, data workflows, ETL processes, APIs and AI-enabled tools.
You will work closely with the database administrators, the build team, Quality Management and other cross-functional partners to keep data builds reliable, resolve issues and keep improving the systems.
Responsibilities
Help design, build, maintain and improve the medical device database.
Own and implement the medical device data management system, including scalable database and UI solutions for web applications and data-driven workflows.
Use Python to automate data workflows, build and maintain ETL and integration pipelines, validate incoming medical device data and improve back-end systems behind the front end.
Run ETL processes that ingest, transform, validate and load medical device data from internal and external sources, including FDA data, categorization sources, client APIs and client or vendor files.
Build and refine user-facing features in HTML, CSS, Java and templating engines so workflows are efficient and data is easy to read.
Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cline and Cursor to improve productivity, code quality, documentation and testing, and review all AI-generated code before release.
Build, test and integrate AI-enabled tools, validation routines and workflow automations that increase data output and improve data quality and consistency.
Analyze complex medical device datasets to find trends, integrity problems and normalization needs, and suggest database optimizations or schema changes.
Work with the database administrator on planning, data models, query tuning, performance monitoring, deployments and production support.
Write and maintain documentation for data models, architecture, code, workflows, release and change processes, work instructions and training materials.
Monitor and troubleshoot system and database performance, using indexes, partitioning, query tuning and other methods to keep the system available, reliable and responsive.
Make sure ETLs run properly and on their scheduled cadence.
Troubleshoot API, integration, ETL and data build issues, including APIs used in builds, and help the build team resolve issues across build, QA and release.
Work with Quality Management, clinical and content, product, technology, database administration and build teams to turn business and data requirements into reliable enhancements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to own technical work from requirements through delivery.
Skilled at developing, reviewing, testing and debugging applications in Python, Java, CSS and HTML, including AI-assisted and manually written code.

Experience with ETL and data integration concepts, API troubleshooting, data mapping, data validation and ingesting structured or semi-structured files from multiple sources.
Ability to evaluate, build, integrate and validate AI-enabled tools or automation in data workflows while keeping human review, data quality and documentation standards.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with a database administrator, a build team and other stakeholders. Organized, detail-oriented and committed to quality improvement.
Associate degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
